For a warm up round
Course seemed a little beat up the greens were mostly sanded it was pretty in the pine trees and if you are a beginner to mid range golfer this is a great starter course before you play more challenging courses. Conveniently located beside the airport
Played in 3 hours and 45 minutes on a Sunday morning
Course is in solid condition, all the employees were very friendly.
We were the first tee time and played in 3 hours 45 minutes BECAUSE this course does not double tee!!
Nice traditional layout......
Best course for the money in Myrtle Beach!
I’ve only been golfing for about 3 years. Out of all the courses in Myrtle Beach that I’ve played, Whispering Pines is by far the best value for the money. The course is always in good condition. Better than most that are in the price range they are in. The staff is very friendly and they keep the pace up by single teeing all day. I recommend this course to anyone who asks.
Easy to score well
1st round at the course. Found the fairways very generous and easy to hit. Few hidden hazards that playing partners pointed out helped me avoid trouble. Did notice that some of the bunkers were muddy or just plain hard, never had to hit from them but others did. Greens were rolling true with all seeming to be the same speed. Overall the course looked like it was dry (brown) but I think there was some recent rain as the course was soft in a few spots. Only complaint I had was the pace of play. We were a foursome following another foursome and we waiting on every shot after the first hole. After a few holes there was no sight of the group in front of the group that was holding us up so I am assuming they finished in 4+ plus hours whereas we did not!
Unfriendly for women
My wife and I played here for the first time. Conditions were good on the fairways and OK on the greens. A little dried out but putted true and a little fast especially downhill. The tee boxes definitely need work. /played the senior tees and they were fair for distance, but the womens tees were only 15 yards up in most cases making a very long course for my wife.
Pleasant course
Layout of course is good, upkeep maintenance could be better. Seems the course gets a lot of play. I liked the risk and reward opportunities, and not too many water hazards. Greens were pretty fast and rolled well. All in all, pretty good value.
Nice Course Within the City.
Nice Course, Open Layout, Need Accurate Placement of shots to attack the pin. Enjoyed the course for the economic cost.
Women Beware!!
We waited all day behind a 4some of macho hacker guys who would not let the 2 of us play thru. Frustrating!!! We saw a ranger once towards the beginning of round who said that he had told the group in front of us to speed up a bit. They quit at the turn but then the bigger problem was then the foursome in front of us. No one in front of them... always in the trees. Ugh!!! 5.5 hours!!!!
Really loved the layout of the course and it was in great condition!!! Sad our experience was ruined by these guys!!!
