Hole #6 Photo submitted by DintheRough17 on 01/29/2017
good and bad
This course has no Tee Box Id display for any hole. the only yardage marker on the fairway was a 150 stake. Course is tight but fair. bring extra balls. greens small but looks like once the aeration grows in should be very nice but slow putting.
Frank one
Excellent course lot of marsh and water. I would recommend the course
good day in loris, s.c.
greens just aerated, so when they grow in , course will be very nice track to play. brand new carts.
most holes will not allow you to just run it up. hazards in front , so bring your short game. great course. worth the drive from myrtle beach
course
Course was in decent shape, the main problem was me, I stink
Diamondback
Course will be great in a couple of weeks when Bermuda grass comes in
1st hole in one
Great day on this coarse, hole in one on the par 3 8th. Challenging coarse for average golfer, glad we paired with local players as their knowledge was invaluable.
Tough design but unfair with no grass on fsirways
Only $30,about $15 too much .very tight and difficult which would be fine but grass on fsirways sparse at best .save the beers and hotdog and invest in one fertilizer and water
Hole variety
Good pace of play - will definitely return soon for another round.
course in poor condition.
Although course was wet from earlier rain, fairways lacked any grass so whether wet or dry you had to be precise in making ball contact. Greens were quick but inconsistant. You needed kidney belt to ride cart paths. paid hot deal price which was still too much. Would not recommend this course.
Tired Old Golf
My golfing partner recommended this course as he played it 10 years on one of his golfing trips to Myrtle Beach. Sometimes memories are enhanced after a number of years in-between experiences. All courses I played at this time of year had dormant rough. Diamondback had dormant everything. Tee boxes were not recently cut or maintained and the greens appeared to struggle to be green. Cart pathways need to repaved. Absolutely terrible. Our problem was that we decided too late to book a decent course due to wet weather forecasts that did not materialize. What can you expect for $25 with cart? Not much.
Stay in the fairways
the greens were top dressed but it did not slow them. The course has started to dry out and should be in great shape in a couple of weeks
Lotta Rough
A challenging course which will frustrate some and appease others. Many golfers were seniors which made the day seem longer than most. Hills and valleys will keep you guessing where your ball ends up. It is a delightful course where you will want to bring extra balls.
Generally Disappointed
Staff was extremely pleasant and the food was good. The "golf now" price was a great plus because the current condition of the course did not warrant paying full price. Layout of the course is good and challenging at times. We could not get past the the brown fairways. The course seemed ragged to me, compared to the many other courses we have played during our stay. I doubt that I would return.
Fun layout
Doglegs left, right, tee shots over wetlands, water hazards to the sides and in front of shots. Some holes very short and others were a stretch on the soft course. Everything in the fairway is dormant bermuda, greens were challenging. Good value for the money paid and will come back. Pretty much out of the way for everyone at the beach, but worth the drive to get out in the country and enjoy the day.
Wonderful Layout .... but!
Well laid out course that is a very good challenge with water strategically placed. Greens are good and very firm. Major disappointment is that the fairways are brown from not being over seeded for the winter. This really distracts from the "feel" of the the course. Would only return in late spring or fall.
Should be warned of conditions when booking
In it's prime this course is a great course to play. however with no over seeding on the fairways, the wet conditions and then cart path only (which we HATE) we are relegated to the unfavourable review. There were soooo many jammed into play that the pace was slow and we waited and waited on every hole. Although we paid a very low price we wouldn't have played at all if we had known ahead of time the conditions under which we would be playing. My whole reason for submitting this review is to ask that Golfnow.com give relevant alerts prior to booking tee times under which golfers would be playing.
needs work
needs work on drainage ,too wet to play course should be closed till it dries out golfers just tearing up the fairways to wet to hit off or walk on ,cart paths only or the tires would sink to the rims greens were ok
fairways dead
Compared to the other courses I played in Myrtle Beach, the fairways here are in terrible shape. There is no green grass on the fairways.
Great Value!
The course was in good shape considering the recent rains, cold weather and winter conditions. Its worth the drive to play.
