Gripping it and ripping it may be in vogue, but course architect team Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt are not going to let that be the extend of your strategy at Siena Golf Club.

This Las Vegas course is about shot-making more than bombing away. Siena's 97 pot bunkers are arranged to force frequent strategic decisions. Sometimes discretion is the better part of scorecard valor at Siena.

Hooking the ball every which way is paid for dearly at Siena. It's best to go with the clubs you can hit reasonably straight and give up a little distance.

Views of the surrounding mountains are complemented by six different water bodies, including Lake Siena. You'll be strategizing in some striking scenery.

"I don't think you'll come away impressed with this course," marketing director Mick Toscano said. "I think you'll come away awestruck."

ROUGH FAIRWAYS

The Tee Boxes were full of divots and painted green. The fairways were in very bad condition as it looked like rows of corn fields with sprigs of grass. Granted, it is winter, but this course needs lots of attention. It was highly recommended to me a year ago but a real disappointment on Feb 7th. My friend and I agreed we would not play the course again due to the poor condition.

Beautiful course, I will be back!

First time playing at Siena Golf Club and it did not disappoint! The views were quite spectacular, the greens were fast, the service all around from beverage cart to staff in the restaurant to gentlemen in the pro shop were fantastic! I highly recommend a round at this course, we will definitely be back!!!

Running late

Despite letting them know one in your group has to cancel...because they can't plan ahead for a forecast and are running 45 minutes late still at 1pm...they'll still charge you for the missed revenue.

Picturesque Course!

Sienna golf club is a great value! The staff was very helpful and pace of play was fast. I played it in four hours! There is some great signature holes!!

Darn good for this time of year!

First time at Siena Golf Club

Desert golf in the winter means hard and fast. But it doesn't have to mean bunkers that have rocks and poor quality sand.

The greens were probably the best I've played on in a while, very fast and subtle.

The layout is great and in my mind very fair.

The fairways were pretty spotty and the grass was very thin with very tight lies.

Not too bad

Played on a windy day, so the scores were high, but a good time was had. Course was in Ok condition, some bare spots on the fairways and lots of ball marks on the green, but not too bad. Tees were a little bare, but you could find a place to tee. Driving range was very good, restaurant was very good, beverage cart was good.

Terrible

Took us 5 hours to play 15 holes, didn’t even finish. No marshals on sight. Just terrible .

Still needs work

Greens are okay. Do hold the best but not horrible. Fairways are a 50-50 split. Some places they are good other places have been in bad shape for a few years. Fun course but not really a premium venue for its location.

Will play it when others are not available.
