Legacy Golf Club sits on 28 acres of Dwight B. Heard's turn-of-the-20th-century ranch, home to 1902 silos that decorate the 18th fairway - once the tallest manmade things in Maricopa County. More history is on the first tee, in the Sierra Vista House which counts among its early-1900s visitors Theodore Roosevelt and Pancho Villa.

Gary Panks designed the golf course at the Legacy Golf Club, giving it lush fairways, strategic hazards and manicured greens to test all golfers. Native flora grows from the landscape, and the club's elevation offers a vista of Camelback Mountain, Squaw Peak and the skyline of Phoenix.

Good overall

Course was well maintained. Some of the tee boxes were a a little rough with to many divots. Pace of play was 30 minutes (per GPS on the cart) behind when we finished at 4:40 PM.

Just hard enough!

Course in GREAT condition. Could use more divot sand fill ups across the course. Pure greens… great sand in bunkers… Overall, fantastic. Would play again and again…

Staff members are incredible!

This is a great course, practice facility and outdoor dining facility. Experience it all for a great day of golf. Course is in good shape, the greens are in great shape. Only issue is the bunkers, some have great sand but others are just dirt. Fix this and you have an A rating. The staff are extremely nice, from the pro shop to the ranger, this is a down to earth group that understand we are all there to have a great day. Course layout is excellent I would golf here again and I actually did😂. Keep it up legacy you’re doing a great job!

18 at Legacy

Bag drop was easy. I was a single playing with a threesome. We got of on time at 1:00 and pace of play was good. Stay on the fairways on this course. The grass on the sides was so thick I could hardly hit out of it. Traps are deep and inconsistent. We saw they were adding sand. Phoenix had record rain this November. Greens were fast and true. This is a well maintained course and very scenic. Lots of rolling fairways with fairways traps. I shot my handicap so I was happy.

Always appreciate the Legacy

My husband and I play the Legacy every November when we visit Phoenix. We love the layout, the practice facilities, the friendly staff (cart girl was adorable and very efficient), and the condition of the course. Our only complaint was that two of the four players ahead of us were obvious beginners, and their shots were 50 yards at best, which was evident right away on Hole #1. We did mention this to the starter and then again to a ranger on Hole #4, but as far as we could see, nothing was said to the foursome. It makes one wonder why beginners would choose the Legacy, which, for those of us playing off the forward tees, is 5471 yards, which is a long track even for those of us who play a lot. We barely got our game in, considering our tee time was 12:44, but we didn't tee off until 1:00, and then waited every hole.

Slow play

I Teed off at 1:50pm and didn’t even get to finish the round. The marshall was very nice teeing off and assured us he would be around but didn’t see him once to speed up play. Paying just south of 80$ I am pretty bummed not to finish. Course was pretty weather was nice but if you are looking for a sub 4 1/2 hr round this is not the place.

Fantastic Course

It was a great day. Rain a couple weeks ago played havoc with the sand traps. But other than that, the course was in nice shape. It was a great day to play golf. Hats off to the starter and bag guys. They were very welcoming and helpful.. thanks for a great day.

Nice coarse, good shape, little pricy. Would be nice if they offered JR rates for players under 18

Tina

Legacy was in great condition for 100+ weather. Greens true and fast compared to most valley courses in September. Bunkers are still crap like always though. No sand and concrete under what little sand there is. Stay out of the bunkers I guess!

Nice Course, Good Amenities, Terrible experience due to Ranger

The course is good, and is a price that you expect to pay around Phoenix with probably better bang for your buck out there. We were an early morning 3-some at 7:08 and are well seasoned golfers who play year round. When we arrived at hole 4 (par 3) an individual from St. Jude was in the midst of setting up and we took some time to help and be part apart of his par 3 donation challenge ($20 each). This still had us on pace if not 2 min. over with no one waiting or anything behind use, but a full hole behind the group in front of us. The ranger doing his rounds met us on 6 and lit us up in a heated manner for being so behind the group in front of us, When were just off the pace ~2-4min at that point with no one in view behind us the entire time, and he would not hear a word of it. Even though my wife was in the fairway after a great tee shot he told her that she should consider picking up for the hole. Thought we did a nice thing helping the gent with St. Jude to only have our round ruined by the Ranger. We moved on, had some beers, played our leisure and never saw the group in front or behind us the entire time. sub 4 hours and won't return- I get pace of play issues and how they can cascade so don't mistake ignorance here. The Rangers approach, tone, and rationale was just way out of line

Great Round

I haven’t played here in a few years and now I regret that decision. The course was in fabulous condition, the staff was excellent and the layout is challenging and scenic. I highly recommend a visit.
