Meadowlark Golf Course
About
Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach is a player-friendly layout that is a popular choice amongst locals. Like most classically designed layouts, the course is short and tight but that also makes it easily walkable. The pin placements on the greens can be tricky and there are also some challenging water hazards that come into play on several holes. The golf course will test your short game skills but there are wide, player-friendly fairways that balance the trickier elements. Beware, though, numerous trees on the golf course make many of the tee shots tight and narrow. It is not an overly difficult layout but it is an enjoyable round that players of any skill level will enjoy. Meadowlark also offers affordable rates that make it doubly appealing.

Horrible greens
The greens were half dead. course was in ok condition.
Great Value
I play this course quite often and know it well. Very few holes are the same and I like the changes from hole to hole. It would be considered short for most golfers but do not mistake that as "easy". The greens have always been in pretty good shop (though they are a little small). The fairways have been improve greatly in the last year (used be brown and hard). Trees have been trimmed ( i personally have hit enough of them that i am surprised they are still standing) and/or removed. Mostly the greens are medium to slow speed that it is just best to go right at the hole. Like most courses you will be penalized on nearly every hole if you go over the green (best to be a little short and in front of the greens if you are between clubs). 2, 7, 9, & 18 will play a little longer than they look (ocean breezes) and 10, 12, 17, will probably play a little shorter than they look. Again this course can be much tougher than it looks because the greens are a little smaller than some other courses you might watch your ball run off the green on 1, 4, 12, 15 after hitting what you thought was a good shot. The greens were under repair in early November and as some others had noted were pretty rough , but they have bounced back nicely in the last week or so. There are some pretty good mid day deals on this course offered through golfnow and while there can be an occasional painfully slow playing groups out on the course some days I mostly complete a midweek early afternoon round between 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Saturdays (beer drinking buddys day it seems) or Sunday (couples day it seems) tend to run 45 minutes longer. BTW the weather is almost always perfect for golf in Huntington Beach. The Hotdogs and sandwiches are pretty good as well
Bad fairways greens even worse!!
I played here a couple years ago so i forgot I played here had i remembered I would have passed. Im about a 11 handicap. I cant believe they charge $50-$60 to play here in the AM.
The Tee boxes were terrible...all beat up and uneven. The fairways were in better shape but thats not saying much a lot of patchy areas some spots had no grass and the Greens were ridiculous.... patches of diseased grass all over not just a few spot on a couple greens but every single green had bad patches covering about 70% of the greens. Making your ball bounce, jump and or push or pulls your putts making you miss.
Stay away spend your hard earned money else where!
Corse review
The greens were patchy, otherwise the golf is well laid out.
Fun
Fun course. Most of the holes are straight forward. I was really happy with the condition compare to other courses around the area. Greens were nice
Poor conditions
Fairways are very close to one another Constantly hearing four! Alot of bare dirt areas & ground lumpy.Price good for practicing Par 70
Worth your money
This course is worth your time and money to golf. It's not a difficult course by any means but it puts of enough challenges to make it worth your time out there. Pace of play for a Saturday afternoon was pretty good - I think we only waited at the tee box once for 2-3 minutes at the turn. The level of golfer here isn't necessarily as strong as other courses so you do need to keep an eye out for errant balls and expect to have some people in your fairway from time to time. Overall, it's a good course and time and I've already booked my tee time for the next weekend.
Squeezing in a round at 3pm
My buddy and I were looking for a cost effective course in the area and it was between Meadowlark vs David Baker. I like going to Meadowlark because I like the layout of the course and the greens are in better condition than David Baker. The pace of play at Meadowlark is fair, but that's expected when you're playing around twilight hours.
The afternoon staff
The afternoon staff is not polite and not courteously at all. I'm 66 years all and have a membership ,somehow every time I checked in at 5:00pm ,he always talked down to me and acted as giving a favor or donation to me. Beside that he might overcharged the cart fee ( $14 ) without giving the receipt to customer, I wonder this money will be turning to the cashier or to somewhere else. ( This man is surely younger then my youngest son ,however the politeness is at least required at anywhere , don't you think so ?) in another word customer feels like a beggar but the King. . I wrote this review for other people who were treated the same way. I'm looking for the change of this situation. Best regards.
One of my favorites
The course has always been in good shape. By the beach so it's cooler on those really hot days. It's a nice walk if your up to it, and it has some challenging holes with risk and reward value.
We are happy to hear you enjoyed your round at Meadowlark! Thanks for coming out to play, we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Course offers a non repetitive holes
I had to use at least 10 diferent clubs due to de way is set
Good twilight round in HB
I really love the the layout which is why I always come back to meadowlark. The fairways could be a little bit greener and manicured but surprisingly the greens were in decent shape this time. Which made it possible for me to shot a decent score with no three putting. Opened my round with a birdie on the first hole and ended my round with back to back pars draining a 40 footer uphill breaking right to left. Draino!!! Shot a 85 which is my average. I haven't been able to play well since I had knee surgery back in early May. Played three round this week and finally my game showed up. Green River on Wednesday, Sky Links on Friday and Meadowlark on Sunday. I love this game! #golflife

Fair way was great most holes, even dry season

Price is right but prepare to be patient
Nice track however as with many muni courses very busy...waited on just about every shot which can get frustrating...
Walkers slow the pace down considerably so they may want to consider ride only.

Great speed of play and good greens
Good value
Played here like 5x. Well kept for the price if u get a hot deal. The pace of play is hit or miss... This time was a hit. 4 hrs. Last time was 4hrs thru 10....could use some water jugs on the course...

Great water placements
Nice challenge in every hole the par fives where fair not difficult at all even though I bogeyed and pared. Greens where a bit on the fast side can't wait to play it again
Meadowlarks' a lark
Club is simple, food is great and worth the cost. Range is adequate but the chipping and putting areas are equitable to what is encountered on the course.
Fairways and greens were well maintained. Rough wasn't horrible. The course was loaded with people and there were golf balls crossing fairways as slices and hooks deposited unwanted balls in our path. The pace was moderately slow. A fivesome with two on a cart, two with push carts, and one carrying the bag made their way around the course.
I will go back. Overall worth the cost and close to home.
I believe the unprofessionalism and ignorance of the management to ignore your concerns are proof enough for me to avoid this course and advise others to do the same. I hope the management addresses your concerns within the year.
