Meadowlark Golf Course
About
Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach is a player-friendly layout that is a popular choice amongst locals. Like most classically designed layouts, the course is short and tight but that also makes it easily walkable. The pin placements on the greens can be tricky and there are also some challenging water hazards that come into play on several holes. The golf course will test your short game skills but there are wide, player-friendly fairways that balance the trickier elements. Beware, though, numerous trees on the golf course make many of the tee shots tight and narrow. It is not an overly difficult layout but it is an enjoyable round that players of any skill level will enjoy. Meadowlark also offers affordable rates that make it doubly appealing.

OVERBOOKED
If you have a schedule and book a tee time to enjoy some golf don't go here. I arrived 10 minutes before my Tee time at 8am. After signing in and securing clubs I noticed about 20 people swarming around the first Tee. At 8:20 the starter announced 4 parties ahead of my group. I am frustrated with golf courses that can not book properly, this being the worst I have seen. If I book a tee time in advance, I expect to be able to get on the course and be playing within a maximum of 20 minutes from my scheduled time. A couple people in my party stayed and played but I left because the play time was going to be a minimum of 5 to 6 hours.
So slow
I left after 6 holes and after 2hours and 10 minutes. There were 5 groups waiting on the 7th hole when we arrived. If it had been any slower we would have had to move backwards. This was my 4th and slowest round at Meadowlark. Never saw a Marshall. Previously I have played behind 5 domes and thought that was the problem. I did not see any fivesomes on this round.
Great Day
I'll be Bock.I'll be Bock.I'll be Bock.
Greens were punched
Okay but not great. Bunkers just filled with new sand
Good short course
I enjoy playing this because of its size. It can be played in 3.5 hrs. Layout is nice with some holes have great undulations. Greens can be improved. The rough can be rough because the grass is too high. Hard to hit a good recovery shot. A few turtle back greens makes it challenging to get on. Overall I enjoy playing here.
SLOWWWWW
Ridiculously slow pace of play. The greens are small with falls edges everywhere which make it challenging for your average player.
Slow pace, over booked and short of golf carts
Got tee time at 1:15 pm but teed off ten minutes before 2 pm, heard a guy behind our group shouting he was here at 11 am and still got no tee off at 1:50 pm. huge mess by the starter, I've played this course quite a lot but never seen like this. It will scare off 1st timers from this course.
Great Course, Great Condition
The course was in excellent condition and the greens are challenging. Pace of play was average for a Saturday, at just over five hours. Great value for the money.
Always a Good Time
Let me compliment the staff on their friendliness and willingness to accommodate. Original tee time was for two, but three showed up. The staff made it happen that all three of us could tee off together even though the course was busied out. We had a good game and a happy day. Thank you!
Too crowded
This course could use a marshal. Very slow play. Course condition not great.
So much fun!
I love this course! Some weekends it takes 5+ hours to play, but the weekend before Christmas we finished in just over 3 hours! I love the elevation on hole 9 and the turtle shell green on hole 10. I really appreciate the variety and layout. Also the food and bar is awesome.
always fun
Love this place. Fun, semi challenging. Rarely plays over 4.5 hours. It's by the beach, just go and enjoy.
Great facility
I don't think there is a better course for the money
Keep it straight
Not as easy as it looks
Ball placement is important
Keep it in the fairway, the trees are very big and mature.
Very enjoyable
Poor fairway
I found so many bare fairways without any white removable area mark
I am confused whether I could replace the ball or not
Fun couse, but slow playing
I love this course. It's short, but challenging. Need to hit accurate shots to stay out of the strategically placed water. Don't want to be in the trees either.
We played on a Friday...midday. The course was packed and played very slow. At least 2 groups on every tee box. Slightly over 5 hours start to finish. Also, call the pro shop and check the rates. Online pricing was no deal. With fees we actually paid a little more than the rack rate.
Family Friendly
I really enjoy the course. It requires golf shots not just mashing the ball. Family friendly and suitable for beginners. Played with son and his friend. Both shot 100(give or take) yet we were able to have a good time. I noticed other groups with young golfers and beginners. Greens are in good shape and always present a challenge. Fairly quick with slopes.
Meadowlark is a good challenge
This course challenges a golfer with greens that boggle the mind. Be prepared for a great day .. Make sure you get on the green because the grass rough is like fly paper
Good summer choice
It's near the beach so the temperature and breezy always makes this a great summer course. Nothing spectacular but a fun round.
Still a fun course and challenging greens
I live in HB,,, the fairways are in ok condition a couple of dirt patches though.. Greens in good condition .. Pace of play was a bit slow but it was Saturday .. Green fees were very reasonable ... Overall I played this course many times and would recommend it to my friends for a fun round plus u get that nice ocean breeze
