At Red Rock Country Club, Arnold Palmer has created an escape from desert golf with a lush green course that forces golfers to think over their shots. As you're thinking, a waterfall could be crashing in the background. There are actually two Palmer courses here, but only The Arroyo is open for public play.

It measures in at 6,883 yards from the back tees and uses dramatic bunkering to set off its holes. The par 4s are particularly inventive, especially the 432-yard 4th. The par-3 seventh gives you great views of The Strip in the distance. The greens consistently run 10-11 on the Stimpmeter and the fairways are designed to funnel shots that are not overly wild back into decent lies.

"The Arroyo Course is what it is -- a playable course with stunning scenery and a smattering of decent golf holes," former TravelGolf.com writer Shane Sharp said. "It won't provide as memorable a round as Sin City's big-name resort courses, but the price is relative. If you're looking for a course to include in your annual Vegas rotation, Arroyo would be a nice addition, considering its conditioning and scenery."

Play it again

The staff was exceptional. But signage is horrible. It doesn't help that this part of Las Vegas seems to hid their street signs. It was a hard place to find.

But find it I did. And well worth it. Good elevation changes, though nothing dramatic.

Fairways in good shape. Greens mostly good. Rolled true.

Good Time

Course was great, staff was helpful. Only complaint was pace was kinda slow, but not enough to ruin a fun vacation round. Much better value than most other courses in the Vegas area.

Overpriced for non resident

Plain and simple the course just isn’t that nice. Granted it has plenty of scenic backdrops w the red rocks assuming you don’t mind looking over the top of the house lined fairways but even for late February the tee boxes and greens were in unacceptably rough shape. The driving range is tired at best. Plenty of better options around for $200+. I hope the course on the private side of property is in nicer shape. The layout is decent enough.

Whoa - Whoa

Whoa - Whoa, that is what you will hear if you get anywhere near the shared private club area.

This course has two18’s, one private and one public. If you get near the private area someone will make sure you know, you are not allowed.

The course is OK, greens are very hard. Your ball will not stick, even if a wedge is used at approach (and I have a high shot).

There is nothing wrong with the course, it’s just basic and over priced for what you are getting.

Then when done golfing, you see a nice club that would be great for food and drinks, but it says, Private - Members Only. Would not be so bad if the public side had a nice spot for food and drinks but the bar was already closed at 4:30 pm.

Will not play here again, unless prices are reduced.

Great value for a great course.

This course makes you feel like you're a member of the club. 8 out of 10 course. Greens and traps are the only setback at this time.

Not bad

My course rating as follows (out of 10)…driving range-2…tees-2…fairways-8…greens-8. Driving range was off of terrible mats and the balls were old. The putting green not much better. The tees were barren but the fairways were quite good. The greens were decent speed and fairly smooth. Does no one fix ball marks anymore? The layout was a bit strange traveling quite a ways between homes to get to some tees. The pace of play was ok on the front but quite slow on the back. Overall..just ok.

I recommend this course

This was my first time playing at Arroyo and it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The course was pure and I was surprised how green the fairways were at this time of year. I can’t wait to play again.

Was an excellent course to play. Nice design, very tough greens, challenging change in elevation. It was my second time playing and I will definitely play it again.
