At Red Rock Country Club, Arnold Palmer has created an escape from desert golf with a lush green course that forces golfers to think over their shots. As you're thinking, a waterfall could be crashing in the background. There are actually two Palmer courses here, but only The Arroyo is open for public play.

It measures in at 6,883 yards from the back tees and uses dramatic bunkering to set off its holes. The par 4s are particularly inventive, especially the 432-yard 4th. The par-3 seventh gives you great views of The Strip in the distance. The greens consistently run 10-11 on the Stimpmeter and the fairways are designed to funnel shots that are not overly wild back into decent lies.

"The Arroyo Course is what it is -- a playable course with stunning scenery and a smattering of decent golf holes," former TravelGolf.com writer Shane Sharp said. "It won't provide as memorable a round as Sin City's big-name resort courses, but the price is relative. If you're looking for a course to include in your annual Vegas rotation, Arroyo would be a nice addition, considering its conditioning and scenery."

Good Not Great Course

I enjoyed Arroyo but if I was forced to pay full price, I don’t think I would play here again. The golf course had a decent layout but the tee boxes aren’t visually appealing with them looking dead. Pace of play was awful and the marshal refused to say anything to the guilty party. Took over 4 and a half hours to play a 3-3:30 hour course. Range is inconvenient as well due to it being way out of the way. Staff was friendly and the views were very good. 3.5/5 stars overall.

Great track!

First 6 holes were in great condition. Last 12 the greens were a bit like the surface of the moon due to all of the ball marks, but it could have been worse. Tee boxes need a lot of love, but the fairways and roughs were incredible!

Good Course

Good course. Can’t remember which hole on the back 9, but one of the greens was completely covered in geese poop. Other than that, course looked great.

Should be renamed "Snail trace"

Teed off 15 min late because they were behind. Finally teed off on #2 after 1 hour from starting. There were 3 groups on #2 teebox when we arrived. After 1.5 hours and only 2 holes in I left. No refund given unfortunately.

Poor pace

Course is in good shape but if you can’t play at decent pace, it means nothing. No starter or Marshall.

5 plus hours

2 medium sized groups slowed the pace to a crawl with no marshall to help or pass along messages to the groups stuck behind.

Shouldn’t be at this quality of course

The course is beautiful, with great views of Red Rock Canyon and mountain views on many holes. The course itself was not long, was a driver/wedge course. The gold tees were not out there so the tips were only 6433.

The course is in great condition - tons of rough throughout that punishes you if you miss the fairways. The greens were slow but smooth. Bunkers had a small amount of sand but you weren't hitting off rocks or dirt. Decent width on fairways with banks on a few holes in case you missed.

This is the only course I've played in Vegas that had water stations on it. It's also the only course that had large screen GPS with distance off all tees. The course also had little to no restrictions on where you could take the carts.

Where this course misses the mark is the layout and the pace of play. There are no doglegs on the course. There are no water hazards on the course outside of a par 3 where the hazard is behind the green and not even visible. The only real strategy that ever comes into play is if you want to go for the green in 2 on a par 5, or lay up and chip on. While there's beautiful views, it's still a neighborhood course, where you're driving through the subdivision to get from hole to hole. Every hole is lined by homes.

Tee times are spaced out every 8 minutes so groups get stacked up on all the Par 3's and you finish in 5 hours, with constant alerts from the cart GPS that you're behind pace because it's hilariously programmed at a 4.0-4.5 hour pace. But since you're sitting at the tee box doing nothing, why not pay for an overpriced drink? And who doesn't want to be harassed on the golf course to donate to cancer/children/whatever while they're hitting tee shots?

Poor condition from tee to green. Lazy ground crew and no pride in their work. Horrible layout with detached holes poorly marked. Wonderful cart girls though.
