Hell's Point Golf Club
About
When Hell's Point Golf Club opened in 1982, Golf Digest called it one of the best new courses and it was ranked as one of the 100 best-designed courses in the country. Renowned architect Rees Jones designed the course. He incorporated the many natural features provided by the golf course's location in the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The fairways are edged with saltwater marshes and Jones included his signature sculpted bunkers along the greensides. Just a stone's throw from the ocean, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The second hole is one of southeastern Virginia's toughest golf holes with out-of-bounds to the left, trees to the right, and a sloped fairway that leads to a well guarded, double-tiered green. This par 4 is the no. 1 handicap hole at When Hell's Point Golf Club.

challenging course
I like the course with moderate challenge.
Great value!
Very disappointed n the condition
We hadn’t played Hells Point in some time, and were big fans of the course. Great layout. Today the condition was pathetic!
Greens were horrible.. fairways pretty good. Tee boxes poor.
I love the course but was very, very disappointed today.
Sad
Have been playing HP for over a decade annually during our family visit to Sandbridge. Sadly, the condition of the course gets worse every year. I’m a golf nut and I’m at the point where I don’t think I can go back. Put some money into it VA Beach!
This course needs better upkeep
The pace of play was horrendous. We had to tell three groups of three to go in front of us because they wanted to play at 20 mph and force us to play quickly. The course greens are terrible and need to be rolled weekly. Also there where major trees down that need to be taken care of. The only thing good is the practice greens and the snack bar prices. Would be better if they had a martial out telling people to stop pushing groups and when to tee off its ridiculous.
VA Beach Golf
Flow of the course was interesting. Tight fairways, challenging ever part of your game. Greens needed so work due to not being cut for three weeks. Other than that, I would return to play another 18 holes.
Nicee layout
Great course! They need to work the greens! Potential of being the best golf course of Virginian Beach?!!! Thank you staff!
Greens banged up
I was told the mower broke... is the reason for higher than normal grass on greens
Great golf course
The course was in good shape some of the greens need a little work but over all for the money it's a must play
Dump!
The course was in horrible shape. Under water! Greens had a lot fungus. Bad places on every green. The guy in the pro shop was the worst with the bad attitude!
Considering the hurricane...
When I called in the morning, I was told it would be back 9 only due to Hurricane Dorian coming through the previous day. By the time we teed off @ 2pm, the entire 18 was available to play. Taking that into consideration, the course was in amazing shape with so much debris cleared and out of the way; we had a great time.
Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.
Challenging Course
The course is in very condition except for a few tee boxes and a couple of greens which are in good condition. The fairways are not overly wide and tree lined so important to keep the ball in play. Any ball off the fairway/second cut will be most likey be unplayable even if it can be found. The greens are not overly large. If you want a good challenge this course is for you! Fun to play and would definately go back!
Course needs TLC
Understand that we've had alot of rain lately, but the greens were in poor conditions at best. Alot of dead spots all over, parts of greens had turned into mud. Tee boxes were extremely long and bunkers loomed as if all the sand had been removed with weeds, grass, and gravel throughout them. Fairways and rough were in good shape, but for $50 a person, some love needs to be put into the course.
Hells Point
Golf course was in fair condition two or three greens were in need of cair fairways were in great condition most of the greens were in great shape. it was well worth the money I will play it again soon
To much water here.
This was my first time here. We were asked to play of the tenth tee because there was a number of four balls in front . Everything was fine until, we tried to play the second half of the course from the first tee. It was completely jammed solid with a beginner and his small son. The adult miss hit the ball three times of the tee and there was four ball in front then there was rain coming on, so pretty disappointed in my days golf and called it a day after nine holes. Most courses I have played would have offered a free nine holes or complimentary for another day .but no kind offer made.
Fun Course
This Course is definitely the best place in the area, course is well Laid out and the tee box’s are in good condition as well as the fairways. Definitely Recommend going and playing at the legendary Hells Point!
Nice course.
Course in good shape. Most greens ok, but a few had damage at edges. Nice course layout. Very picturesque drive through woods and over river. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pace of play was great. Would definitely play here again.
Thank goodness not full price
Website says $49. Fortunately Golf Now had it for $22 with cart. Some of the greens are in VERY bad shape. The staff is very friendly and good. They need to hire stable, consistent help for fairways and greens.
