Honey Bee Golf Club
About
Nestled in the heart of Virginia Beach, Honey Bee Golf Club is one of the area's most popular daily-fee golfing venues. Rees Jones designed the course, incorporating water on 10 holes as well as intricate bunkering throughout. The challenging layout has several tricky doglegs and some treacherous blind shots as well. It's a golf course that demands careful course management and some strategic thinking. Accurate shot placement is also key when maneuvering the rolling fairways and contoured greens. While it's by no means an easy golf course, it is an enjoyable round for players of all skill levels, making it a popular venue for tournaments and corporate outings. For golfers looking to get an entire day of golf in, Honey Bee's sister club, Stumpy Lake, is only about half a mile away.

Its my home course; but staff has changed
I would really like to give this a higher rating but ever since the clubhouse staff has changed I just really can't. Its definitely not a welcoming atmosphere and main guy behind the counter always seems to have an "im better than you attitude". Look dude, its a public course and we just want to play, lose the attitude. Everything else don't have a issue with. Love the course, good concessions, and close to home.
Excellent experience
course was a little soggy but area has had a lot rain the days prior. Was greeted by guy in club house and given a couple tips about the course. Greens rolled a little slow which is good for me and fairways was soft but nice. I definately will play again when I'm back in the area.
Good small course
I got out super early and played from the gold tees. It is a very small course, 6075 yards from the gold. It's got a few challenging holes but plays pretty straight forward. A few of the gold tee boxes were unplayable due to being torn up, but at least 2 others could not be played from because the large wooden hole description boards were in the way of your shot. All in all I enjoyed my morning and would probably play it again if I was in the area.
Comfortable
played Honey Bee for the first time today while on vacation. Course was nice with some difficult holes. Greens wear slow early but as it got warmer they got much quicker. Mybonly complaint is other golfers don't repair green divots or actually any divots. Will definately play again the next time I'm here. Staff was super friendly and helpful getting us to the start of our round .
Honey Bee status
I thought the course was in good shape... the course was actually in the bunkers trying to rake and maintain. Even had a pump going to remove water. Although, not their fault, greens had a lot of ball marks... players need to repair divots... greens are slow... not a knock! Players have to putt to the greens...
Respect for Paying Customers
Course is in great shape. Greens are firm and don't hold well on approaches, but then downhill putts don't roll out as fast as you would expect.
On the date played there was an event scheduled (Owner's 80th birthday. Happy Birthday, Merv) and staff came out to water greens and rake bunkers which made for interference by greenskeeping staff.
Also, no marshalls for speed of play. Had a 5-some in front of us and they were at least a hole and a half behind the group in front of them. Never waved us up and while it was a Sunday morning, pace of play should always be respected.
Love this course, but some of the staff decisions are questionable.
Needs some work
Greens not that good need some work and tee boxes for sure
great place for the money
I play here relatively often, always enjoy it, staff always friendly, course uaually in pretty good shape, some really fun and challenging holes. great value for the cost
more difficult then I expected
reading other reviews some said it was challenging - some said it wasn't - but for an older person it can be very challenging. the layout at some points were hard to understand - being a first time playing there some holes were hard to find.
Rate is not worthy for the course
Green condition is terrible here.
Fairway is just ok.
Staffs are rude . They don't treat you as customers .
