Honey Bee Golf Club
About
Nestled in the heart of Virginia Beach, Honey Bee Golf Club is one of the area's most popular daily-fee golfing venues. Rees Jones designed the course, incorporating water on 10 holes as well as intricate bunkering throughout. The challenging layout has several tricky doglegs and some treacherous blind shots as well. It's a golf course that demands careful course management and some strategic thinking. Accurate shot placement is also key when maneuvering the rolling fairways and contoured greens. While it's by no means an easy golf course, it is an enjoyable round for players of all skill levels, making it a popular venue for tournaments and corporate outings. For golfers looking to get an entire day of golf in, Honey Bee's sister club, Stumpy Lake, is only about half a mile away.

Solid Course, but doesn't handle rain well
I always enjoy playing at Honey Bee. The staff is friendly and they have a very good practice area with a nice chipping area and grass driving range. The food facilities seem largely deserted most of the time that I'm there (granted, not during peak hours usually). My only negative with the course itself is how poorly it drains. A heavy rain will leave it wet for several days.
Get there on a dry day though and you'll be in great shape.
worst bunkers
The course was in good shape except for the bunkers. The bunkers were the worst I have come across. Some had sand, some had mud , some were in need of major repair and some on the front 9 were just fine. The staff was friendly and pace of play was good.
One of the best around
This course truly makes your golf day a succes. The staff is welcoming and professional, and the course is kept in great shape. Greens are a treat and would deserve better respect from unrepared dents by players. The layout amidst houses requires a couple road crossings but the overall setting is really pleasant. It also allows for enough features to challenge your golf. One of the best in town to make your day!
great greend
Course was in great shape the bunkers were still showing signs of distress from the heavy rains snd the greens ran a little slower but the overall play was awesome.the bent grass greens look more like a mix with Poe ann mixed in but rolled very true
Excellent Value
The course was in good shape, minus a few greens that had been taken over by geese. We played as a twosome on a Sunday afternoon, caught a twosome in front of us on the 4th hole. They were playing behind a number of foursomes, so we joined and enjoyed the round. It's a nice course, particularly for $25. The only downside was that we teed off around 3:30, but didn't see the cart girl a single time.
Honey bee is SWEET
A nice public course in suburbia Virginia Beach that offers several challenges. Greens were true and fast and the fairways were lush. Keep you thinking caps on as you play or there is plenty of trouble where it looks wide open.
Had a great round.
We had a great time. The course was in great shape.
Good Value
the value ($20) was phenomenal. My threesome played 18 in 3.5 hours with little waiting around. The second 9 greens were in better shape than the front 9 greens but most fairways were superb! Very lush and spongy. Front 9 greens needed to be cut but good ondition. Course not too hard but challenging and short. Play from tips if good golfer.
Honey Bee
Course is good and challenging. My only complaint is the start. My tee time was 949 and we didn't start until almost 1030. This wasn't the first time this happened there either. It won't stop me from returning but will possibly start later.
Great Round
Course is challenging with some difficult water holes and long par 5's. Staff was friendly and the course was in good condition. Pace of play could have been better as there was a foursome and 2 some ahead of me that were poor golfers that slowed the pace and were in no hurry to let anyone in front of them.
Dana West
The course offered challenges on most holes. It was in good condition except for the expected wet spots from the recent rain. The weather was perfect which made the day great
HoneyBee
Course was in decent shape bunkers were a little low on sand but tee boxes, fairways, and greens were nice a little slow on the pace 4:45 mins but not too bad overall a good bargain round in virginia beach
Perfect Conditions
For late April, the fairways were very well, manicured. The best I've seen this year. It was 80 degrees and could not have asked for better condition s, even after an evening of thunderstorms. Great pace of play too!
Course has some shot making holes
haven't played this course in a while. course was pretty tough with 30 mph winds
Thin fairways
Was disappointed with thin, grassless fairways in a lot of spots. Rough was also thin. Maybe it was due to bad winter. Layout good, greens good.
Nice course to play
Enjoyed playing this course. It's got some challenging holes, and a few forgiving ones, but it plays well. Every hole is different and the greens are quick and sloped pretty well. Greens were aerated so they were tough to putt. Will play this course again.
Hard winter
I really like the course just rough wet winter conditions, fairway wet and green were just airate and sanded. Sand traps horrible.
Well Maintained Course
The golf course is located in an urban setting, so many of the holes are lined with residential or commercial properties. With that said, the course is designed very well. The club house is very nice along with the staff. The course looks like it drains much faster than other local courses. The pace of play was great up until we got behind a 5-some. Could not get by them. The is a very well maintained course and very clean. I'll play here again.
