Old Hickory Golf Club
About
Beaver Creek divides Old Hickory Golf Club with nine holes sitting north of the creek and nine holes south. The course has a classic parkland layout that plays across gently rolling hills. The fairways were cut through forests of mature hardwoods but they are wide and carefully sculpted to direct balls toward the middle. Skillful players could even try to use the contours to their advantage. Each hole has a bunkers but the bunkering is not excessive. In addition to the mounding and bunkering, the undulating terrain provides natural elevation changes. The golf course finishes with what is arguably its toughest hole. This monster par 5 is 620 yards from the back tees. It requires a drive over a ravine with a natural waste area to the left. Many consider it to be the toughest golf hole in northern Virginia.

Improved but still too expensive.
The course is in a lot better shape than last year but it’s still pretty rough and they charge too much for a standard lower than many public courses in surrounding counties. It’s too bad.
Great Course with Cold Hot Dogs
I really enjoyed the course the layout. It was challenging but somewhat forgiving. I enjoyed being able to use all of my clubs. The greens were rolling good and very challenging if you didn’t land your ball on the right tier. The par threes were nice. The course has some short par 4s you can really go after and the par 5s presented a nice challenge. The course is in a nice community but the houses only come into play if you hit horrible shots. The par 5 18th is a great finishing hole at nearly 600 yards!!! I caught it on the Hot Deal and woukd recommend you doing the same…
Quality Staff and Course
It's been about two years since I last played here. I can confirm that the course has definitely improved overall. The staff is extremely helpful, enjoyable driving range, and the course is in its best shape. Great value and a great Saturday on the course!
Returning to form
This course was in my regular rotation 2019-2020, but I saw the negative reviews posted here and avoided. Came to play and was surprised/impressed, as I saw none of the issues other reviewers mentioned (poor tee boxes, dead patches of fairways, bunkers). They could have just been waiting out the winter months before getting the course in better conditions; recommend a round here.
Early season
They took some needed measures last fall. Just beginning to grow in mid spring. Looking forward to May, June for this course. Want badly for course to return to its former qualities. Layout is spectacular, average golfer can have a great day once course grows in.
Great value and track
For March, course was in spring shape, greens were great, staff friendly, played well under 4 hours and met two members who couldn’t have been nicer

Winter round course was in very
good condition green fairways firm greens—club house staff always friendly and aware of course updates—
challenging course pace of play four hour range-highly recommend
Great Round on a Winter’s Day
Had a nice quiet round with very few people out yesterday-gave me a chance to get out by myself and work on a few things. This course is pretty challenging with a lot of rolling turf, water and tree hazard areas and dog legs. You have to make good decisions as you proceed down the par 4’s and 5’s. The guy at check in was very pleasant and the course was in good shape with tight greens. Am looking forward to warmer weather but it sure is nice out there now with no stinging and biting insects.
Great layout and fun track
Some quirky things with the way some of the holes are set into a housing community, so you’ll need to ride in a cart. But the design is great and challenging and the course is usually in fine shape. Recommended.
