Old Hickory Golf Club
About
Beaver Creek divides Old Hickory Golf Club with nine holes sitting north of the creek and nine holes south. The course has a classic parkland layout that plays across gently rolling hills. The fairways were cut through forests of mature hardwoods but they are wide and carefully sculpted to direct balls toward the middle. Skillful players could even try to use the contours to their advantage. Each hole has a bunkers but the bunkering is not excessive. In addition to the mounding and bunkering, the undulating terrain provides natural elevation changes. The golf course finishes with what is arguably its toughest hole. This monster par 5 is 620 yards from the back tees. It requires a drive over a ravine with a natural waste area to the left. Many consider it to be the toughest golf hole in northern Virginia.

Course needs a lot of work
The course is in really bad condition. Shame, it used to be really good.
Right direction
Last summer course was headed downhill. This spring brought a long waited change in direction with some attention to all areas of course. Fairways were the most significant upgrade. Not perfect yet, but a big difference, and appears they’re headed in right direction. Keep up the good work. An excellent track that deserves good hard work.
Needs a little TLC
Course just doesn’t stand up to the ‘premium’ product the price selects. Play it for a hot deal on a weekday. They are working hard on some major repair areas so the focus and awareness is there. Did get around in about 3hrs going back to front as a single on a Monday mid-morning time. Glad to see it. The clubhouse and staff friendly, comfortable and helpful as usual.
Welcome to spring
First round for the season and enjoyed it. Looks like the greens were airated a week ago which makes putting a challenge.
Major Disrepair - was attacked by crabgrass
Hard to believe how such beautiful design for a golf course that when in good shape should fetch $100 a round, can only get $30-45 after being ravaged by crabgrass. Hopefully, the renovations and new investments will save this track - it deserves some love after a long period of shameful neglect.
I would NOT recommend playing her for serious matches as one green is closed and so are all the bunkers which are considered ground under repair.
Beat up and Pricey!!!
Much of the course resembled a construction site. The sand traps were strewn with large rocks, the greens were in horrid condition and the fairways were poorly kept. All in all, a huge disappointment. If you can play here for under $15, then, okay.
Course set up was cool
Give this course another month or two and it’ll be worth every penny but it is in the process of renovation in certain areas.
Decent shape and nice layout.
Greens show a lot of cut crab grass mixed in. They really need that under control before spring gets in full swing and that stuff spreads.
