Trump National Golf Club

Let me start by saying the location and scenery is immaculate. Ridiculous coastal views on almost every hole. Pace of play is also very solid and I've never had an issue here. The staff are all very nice and accommodating as well.

Unfortunately, the course itself is nothing special. Fairways are tiny and many are sloping towards the ocean. A miss is in the ivy with no chance of finding your ball. It almost seems like the course is challenging just for the sake of it. Good shots get punished just as easily as bad and there really is no rhyme or reason for many of the holes other than the goal of labeling the course as "difficult."

I felt compelled to write this review because Trump used to be a course that was worth the poor design and layout because of the scenery, pace of play, and course quality/maintenance. Now, they're attempting to charge Pebble Beach level prices, and it's just not remotely close to being worth the new fees. You're betting off driving to Newport and playing Pelican Hill. Views are almost as good and both courses are maintained just as well, but the difference is those courses are actually playable.

The course is in excellent shape with difficult greens that are difficult to read.

The course is short staffed with limited food after the Labor Day holiday and the driving range was closed for it’s weekly maintenance. Only one rest room on each 9 which are poorly maintained and shared with the hiking trail. No food and drink cart service.

Would expect better service/amenities considering the exorbitant green fees

We drove from Newport to golf here for the first time. We drove up to vaet, waited 15 minutes and couldn't find anyone to help us valet or drop our clubs off. I went inside to find out the valet person did not show up and the bag drop helper called off due to bronchitis. The restaurant was not open and the clubhouse looked like a ghost house. We eventually went to the driving range to warm up and agan no one was there to answer questions etc. Finally, an older gentleman arrived to yell at us that we grabbed the wrong color of practice balls- grabbed ours and threw a smaller bag at us. It had 10 balls in it and when I went to get another bag he yelled again saying only 1 bag allowed or else we had to drive up to the clubhouse pay for more and come back It was a very stressful and unkind experience. They are very short staffed and unfriendly at this location which is is shame because all of the other trump experiences have been absolutely wonderful. I did speak with the your manager but nothing came of it

This course would be definite top 5 in the state if it were called ocean bluffs or oceanside cc- something like that. It's pathetic that the rankings from golf digest- etc rank this track lower because of the Trump brand. Extremely difficult when windy- some of the best views in America. Played Riviera CC two days in a row after Trump- & Trump LA was shockingly far superior- JP

Tee’d off 5pm on a Sunday afternoon and got in 16 holes (one in the dusk.) For greens being punched 3 weeks ago, you could not tell. Pretty much fully recovered. Fairways are tight, but course isn’t overly long so if you hit it straight off tee you can score. If you hit it offline, you’re probably dropping 2 from one of the many lateral hazards.

I've played Trump for years. As it gets more and more expensive, I can't justify the spend any longer. Carts are outdated, no stairs or paths to most of the elevated greens. No cart service on course today. Played later in the day, and the snack/grill closed mid-round. Couldn't even get water at the turn. No carts in the lot (which I understand) but it's a long walk up a steep hill to get back to the parking lot. If you've never played there, the views are worth it. But as a returning patron, the course needs to up it's amenities and service to justify the over $400 price.

Great shape and beautifully landscaped. Course is not for the faint at heart with some narrow fairways to challenge you. Such fun.

Loved the course, left politics out of the equation, great course, good value, tons of fun to play and beautiful scenery. Course staff very friendly and helpful.

With no course knowledge this course is tough. Lots of blind shots and target golf.
