Copper Canyon Golf Club - Vista/Lake Course
About
The course at Copper Canyon Golf Club is deceptively exclusive in that although the club has prestige and a luxurious atmosphere, there are some reasonably priced tee times. The layout features an interesting mix of holes that offer panoramic views of the White Tank Mountains to the south. The large, undulating greens that are framed by generous fairways are the trademark of the course. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and there are also sand bunkers situated throughout. This golf course offers four sets of teeboxes. Copper Canyon Golf Club has extensive practice facilities for golfers to use as well, including a full length driving range with several target greens, a large practice putting green, and a short game area with a bunker.

Friendly staff and enjoyable round
This is a very pretty course in the west end. Wide, forgiving fairways which allow for quick play. Great carts! My only criticism would be that the greens need to be better cared for. Not unlike many area courses they are "pock marked" due to lack of player care and heavy traffic.
Great Course
We played on a day that was cart path only due to heavy rains overnight. That didn't affect our overall experience however. There were only a couple places that had standing water that came into play. Overall the course was in excellent condition. A very fair and fun track!!
Typical Troon
This course was in great shape and run very well. All the staff was friendly and accommodating. Greens held well and putted great. Will return whenever possible. Worth the drive.
Best of the west
I got a morning tee time hot deal for under $30, but I would gladly pay full price to come back and play. It's off the beaten path but worth the extra drive. Practice facilities were great, starter was very friendly and just gave a brief overview and let us be on our way. There might have been one tee box not level, and only slightly. My only subtle disappointment was the wet sand, and even when they dried up still were not very "sandy". But the bunkers are easily avoidable for the most part so not as hindering even with the conditions. Saw bev cart three times during the round which was plenty, and Marshall twice where he just said to have a good round. Finished just under 4 hours as threesome with a foursome ahead of us and only had to wait to tee off after one par three. Can't wait to go back!
Lovely course
First time playing there, but it was worth the 30 minute drive to get there. The course is fairly new, and they are still building all the houses around it. We were paired with a local couple who knew the course, which helped a lot especially as 3 of the holes are on the other side of the street and quite a ride in the cart.
Course was interesting, and challenging. Greens were lightening fast.
Greens rolled just great!
Very friendly staff from the pro shop through the on course cart service. Top shelf. Cart path only and we still got around in 4 hours, likely due to the wide landing areas on most holes, so less ball hunting in general. As expected no roll on fairways as very lush from overseeding (thus the good rating). Greens are the story - large greens rolled so nice - pure - and yet scoring irons stuck - best greens we have played in the area this fall. Our round was a hot deal via Golf Now so very good value for the money.
Brow beaten by the marshall
When you pay as much for a unremarkable course as we did on Sunday, you expect to be treated courteously. To be told we were 15 minutes behind on the 6th hole was irksome to say the least. We were not off the pace. We were playing ready golf and we were being herded; very frustrating.
There is nothing special about this course. The architecture is unremarkable.
Also, our cart malfunctioned and we nearly rammed into the other cart in front. The brakes wouldn't work and locked up and I nearly went flying out of the cart. When we reported this to the cart 'man', he made no apology, nor did he empathize in the least. If we were litigious people... but we are not. But I will say that scared me and I held on for dear life for the rest of the round.
Long Drive from Phoenix for a Pretty Typical Course
Had a day off work, and decided to try out Copper Canyon. It is an hour plus drive from North Phoenix. The course is fun to play, but was pretty typical of others in the Valley - nothing that made it extremely memorable. Green fees were $60, which seemed a bit on the high side for the time of year we were playing. I would probably not make the long drive in the future unless they were offering a special rate.
EXCELLENT
The course and overall facilities including staff and patrons are as GREAT as you can get!!!
Last Week of Sept
Absolutely perfect conditions & greens were just stunning, rolling as good as any elite course....just amazing!
Nice course to play
First time playing the course, course was in excellent shape. Well manicured, bunkers in good shape. Greens held pretty well and ran true. Bit of a drive to the course, but well worth it. Would definitely play here again. Staff very friendly.
Beautiful Golf Course
I used golf now to book my tee time and got a great rate. This was the first time playing golf here. I was amazed how beautiful the course was. The fairways and greens are amazing. The course was in great condition for Sept. I would strongly recommend this course to anyone. I will be back soon
Coppers a Whopper
First thing you notice is a complete practice area. Big putting green, nice chipping area and large driving range.
Expansive Fairways, somewhat undulating on certain holes. Greens are in great shape and roll true. Approach shots are easy to difficult depending on pin position. On the day I played, most pins were tucked to the right or left side of the green behind bunkers.
The course can play as long as 6800 yds. down to 5851 yds. for men, so is playable for all handicap ranges. Bunkers are excellent.
Super greens
Course has some of best greens in the valley. Very good turf conditions and pace of play was great for a holiday. Just wish this course was closer to Mesa.
Worth The Drive
We play here at least once a week and enjoy it every time. The drive from the freeways is a little longer than most are willing to make, but the course is always in great shape. Plenty of space for warm up balls on the range. The only issue we have is when they get busy. The starters/marshals easily lose track of groups, and get behind schedule quickly. But once you get to the first tee box it is always worth the wait.
Worth the drive
I play this course every summer when I can afford the green fee. :-) Always a fun track and this summer, the course is in very good condition, especially the greens. Played the copper/silver combo tees (approx. 6100 yards) and the course very forgiving at that distance. Landing areas off the tees are generous, greens are soft and receptive, bunkers in good shape, lots of cold drinking water around the course. Will be back again next summer.
What a gem
I was really impressed with the course. The conditions were great for golf in August in Arizona. The greens are smooth and the layout was fun and challenging. It is a little bit of a drive to get to but definitely worth it. The course is not like the other retirement courses in the area. I look forward to playing it again. It's a need to play!
Best so far this summer
We venture outside the walls of Sun City West for cheap play around the valley. The transition was hardly noticed here. Bent grass greens were stellar and quick.
Impressed with the course overall.
A pleasure
The course was in very good condition and the greens were as good as any in Phoenix during the summer. They were well groomed, smooth and receptive.
