Sundance Golf Club

About
Located in the West Valley, Sundance Golf Club offers scenic views of the White Tank Mountains to the north and the Estrella Mountains to the south. Designed by Greg Nash, the golf course is unique in that it flawlessly blends lush green landscaping with Sonoran Desert washes and arroyos. The rolling terrain of this target-style course creates elevation changes that can affect play. Sundance Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 sixth hole, which requires a precise shot over Sundance Lake to an undulating green that is sloped toward the lake. There are four sets of tee boxes on the golf course for many different options, but the Sundance Golf Club also offers a driving range, chipping area, and putting green.

Best Value Hidden Gem
Pin placements were tricky today!!! Definitely will be back to play then hidden gem!!!
Challenging
I have only golfed at one other course here in the Phoenix Valley . I thought this course was well Maintained. Surprised by all the water . We had a great time.
First round experience
Overall the course is nice. Pretty challenging for me (15 handicap). Only criticism is the that the practice range has no indication of yardage on the flags so it is tough to check club accuracy. Second is that there was no snack/beverage carts out on the round. Overall I feel like I got what I paid for.
Enjoyable Day
My wife and I played on a Sunday and enjoyed ourselves. Good pace of play and course was in good condition. Greens were fast. Good value. The dispersment of carts is a little time consuming so get there early. They only check out carts one at a time.
Wait to play
With the current weather and course conditions , the course is not in very good shape . Greens are in great shape and fast, pin placements are the toughest they can be. When the weather improves hopefully the course will get back in better shape. Don’t know why they are not trimming the brush along the cart paths. Haven’t seen the maintenance staff trimming anything. They are still having problems with lack of functioning carts. Good luck on your round.
No golf carts
Change of management no golf carts ended up leaving
NO CARTS
Cart barn has several carts that have been there for a long time without maintenance or repair. My group had an 11:54 tee time. No carts available until 1:32. Instead of turning out the same few carts over and over, some money should be spent to repair the 20 plus carts just sitting and rotting. Maybe salvage a few to make a few good ones. This could be a great place to play and at a great price. I understand how the staff in the cart barn can be annoyed by golfers constantly asking for a cart. This is the fault of the management and owners. I understand they are in the money making business, but you have to spend money to make money. Also; if you have your own cart you can just take off in front of other tee times that are waiting an hour and a half for a run down wore out cart. Maybe they should make this a private course for just the ones with their own carts. I do not like to write a negative review, I have seen this course run down hill for years now. Really hate where it is going.
Fun course
The course is in pretty great shape, the only downfall is that there is no one calling tee times and people need to enforce some basic etiquette for the greens some are really bad with ball marks. The course can be challenging and very unforgiving if you miss a fairway, but still a good time.
Needs attention
Green’s, not in good condition fairways a lot of brown spots and lacking decent grass. Golf carts in poor condition. Need to be replaced five years ago overpriced for the condition of the course and the golf carts.
Challenging
Sun Dance is very difficult. The greens have a lot of slope to them making them hard to putt. The fairways can be challenging to hit without rolling into the desert.
Course and range need work
The range has always been too small to keep it in good shape. However by keeping us hitting on only one level they have allowed the lower level to be destroyed. The best things about this course are the greens and bunkers. The greens are in great shape and are very challenging. The bunkers have real sand unlike most AZ bunkers. However it is time to replenish that sand as heavy use has depleted much of the sand. Sundance has spent a lot to remodel the bar and restaurant, and they serve great food. They are now spending money on the pro shop remodel. It seems as though the course is taking a back seat to the remodels. The course is rough around the edges and it could use some TLC . It is pretty threadbare with super tight lies in many places, some around the greens. For these reasons I can't recommend the course to my higher handicap friends
Something about how the course is being run didn't feel right.
The pro shop had signs informing you to checkin inside the restaurant? The 'boy' behind the bar, busy doing something on the computer, tells me he will be with in a moment and then proceeds leave me standing there for 5 minutes. There was now lineup behind me. Considered leaving but I had prepaid. Asked for and paid for a warmup bucket of balls and then was informed that I would have to wait until they finished collecting and washing them. After expressing concerns about not having enough time to warmup before our tee time he tells me not to worry because they were running behind due to a frost delay.
Next I tried to go a get a cart to load up our clubs, only to be informed there were several groups with earlier tee times waiting for their carts first and that I would to just have to wait like everyone else! The person who I spoke to was probably just very frustrated, but it felt like he was implying I was supposed to already have known the situation or that I was knowingly trying to jump the line.
After 15 - 20 minutes the driving range golf balls were put out. They hadn't been cleaned. On the range I heard the person next to me telling their playing partner how the balls were free today because of the frost delay.
After warming up and still waiting for a cart, my wife tells me she had a conversation a group of members with the tee time behind us. Through them we found out there was no starter, no marshalls, no beverage cart and that we were next on the tee.
After running up to the cart storage and grabbing the only cart we could find, we proceeded to the first tee to start our 5 and a half hour round, having to wait on almost every shot throughout the day.
On the drive home we discussed the experience, vowing not to return to this course. Too many other options to choose from, most of which are much closer to home. Thankfully it was a beautiful day and we had two nice people to play with to help make the whole experience better.
While I am sure behind the scenes, there is much more to this story, Sundance I hope you get your **** together!
