Course is soaked… as in your shoes will fill up with water if you step in the wrong spot on the fairway. This is the case on most holes on the course. Tee times were 20 minutes late (no starter, no word from staff at check in), cart path only (makes sense when soaked, but no notification when checking in), no marshalls monitoring pace of play (5.5 hour round), and don’t think of bringing a Titleist backpack or they will immediately think you’re sneaking drinks onto the course. Yeast only some range balls were cracked in half.

I love this course, weather was perfect, spring was sprung, beautiful day to play. Recent heavy rains prevented mowing off the rough, which prevented finding about a dozen balls. Very dense and deep, hard to chop out if you did find your ball. Areas of fairway and rough were boggy, but greens were outstanding. Fast and true. I would wait for course to dry out to try it again.

Course was like a swamp due to all the rain.

I live at darkhorse. First time ive played here. Ill be back!

Haven't played Darkhorse for 20 years and brought two friends and we were all very impressed with the course. Greens were in great shape and great layout. Good pace of play too. Really liked the TopTracer range. We will definitely return!

I hadn't played Darkhorse in a few years, and it's a bit of a pull from Sacramento (~23 mins north of the Auburn Hwy 49 exit on I-80), but man what a beautiful piece of country in the fall with the leaves turning. The course was in really good condition and the multi-tiered greens were rolling good and required thoughtful strokes to get a good result. We had a beautiful day and the price was right too. Will be back soon.

Fun course, challenging and the greens were in excellent shape. For whatever reason, other players just didn’t seem to fix their pitch marks on the greens. I probably repaired 3 or 4 besides mine on each hole and there were still plenty to go. Also, a lot of dragged cleat marks on the green. Maybe it was an anomaly but they should put up signs to remind the patrons regarding player’s etiquette.

The course doesn’t have any ball washers which I thought was odd, so make sure you bring a wet towel. Also, bring your own snacks since the food service is pretty spartan right now. Otherwise, the greens and the overall course are well maintained and the layout made you think your way around. I’ll definitely be back (with my own wet towels and snacks!) LoL.
