Since 2001 Wolf Creek has earned a reputation as one of the toughest golf tracks in the Atlanta Metro area. Wolf Creek boasts a 7028 yard par 72 championship layout with bent grass greens which is just one of the reasons Golf Digest selected Wolf Creek as the best course near Hartsfield Jackson Airport. The Mike Young Designs course incorporates both low flatlands holes, bordering many wetland areas, and holes with dramatic elevation changes. Wolf Creek has four sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. A practice range and practice green allow for serious work on your golf game or just a warm-up before your round.

Fun track with a lot of blind tee shots

I played the course from the Blue tees (@6200 yds) because my brother was visiting and is an 18 hcp. I could hit driver on many wide open holes and had wedges into most greens. On tighter holes I hit 3-iron off the tee. From the Black tees this course increases in difficulty dramatically (7000+ yds).

The back 9 is a fun rollercoaster in the hills with several blind tee shots. The greens were aerated within the past month and weren't perfectly healed yet. If you're near the airport and get a deal on a round it's worth checking out.

Not worth the price

Beautiful layout, however, the fairways had not been cut leading to flyer lies. The greens were tall, slow, and very bumpy. It was luck if you made a put. For the hefty price I would expect a much better maintained course and to have a starter present on a Sunday morning.

One of the best layouts in Atlanta

I love this course. A great layout here. The greens were recently punched, but are healing nicely. Always an enjoyable round.

90% Healed?

Booked on Thursday, no warnings about aeration, prior post said it was over two weeks ago and since the price was almost 70, assumed we were good to go, nope. Sign said 90% healed greens, maybe 5 were that close to healed, maybe. Putting was a crapshoot, many bunkers weren't raked, greens looked like they weren't rolled either. Have played it before and the greens were fast and nice but not now, I would call and check before booking for at least a week or two. Good track layout, but it needs some love throughout, fairways were inconsistent, some mowed, some not so much, like I said, this course needs some TLC to charge what they do.

Very good layout.

The course was great, even though I played the course on my own. This course is best played with a foursome, for the challenge it gives.

Aerated Greens

Paid full price for greens that were in horrible condition. No point or reading putts, or even putting for that matter.

Should of had a discount or let golfers know before driving an hour to play. A simple phone call after booking would be nice to inform golfers. No markers on tee box or fairways either, I would stay away...

Thank you for playing at Wolf Creek and also for leaving a comment.

We noted the aerification in two places on Golf Now - with an aerification alert icon and also in the reservation notes that you see at checkout. We also set up rates that were $25 off regular price.

Please contact our GM Wes at the golf course. He will be happy to discuss this with you.

Great conditions and beautiful layout. Blind holes are daunting if playing for the first time but high reward for the risk. Definitely playing again

decent track and close to the airport

i picked wolf creek because it had decent reviews and was only 20 minutes from the airport.

the conditions were pretty nice. grass was healthy both in the fairway and on the greens. small greens seem to be the biggest defense here. most of the driving areas are fairly forgiving, although there are a handful of forced carries. but approach shots require precision to stick the small greens.

number 14 is the real gem. a short downhill par 3, which sounds harmless, but the green is super tiny and is backed by water. it's probably the coolest looking hole on the course and a real challenge!

this certainly isn't the best course in the world, but the layout is fun and forgiving for all skill levels. its proximity to the airport makes it a great choice if you're in a hurry (i played 18 holes in a little over 2 hrs), but if you've got time to venture out of town i think there are some more exciting options.

i definitely must note that the staff in the shop was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which is always a huge plus!

Worth the money

Wolf Creek has always been a challenging layout. For mid April the course was in very good shape. The fairways had some turf, the greens were in great shape although needing a cut. We will definitely come back more often this year.

Grossly Overrated

Am befuddled by the strong ranking this course has, perhaps it just had a tough winter. Overall course conditions were marginal at best (greens were, however, in good shape). Layout involves multiple blind tee shots and lengthy forced carries. 5+ hour round. Waited to hit on nearly every shot. Delay exacerbated by "cart path only" requirement on what were largely bone dry fairways and cart paths that were often no where near fairways. Would not play again, if other courses are available.

Staff was friendly, but was warned at the first tee that I should stop looking at my watch "because there are a lot of hackers out there."

Mr. Dennison,

Thank you for playing Wolf Creek and also for taking time to write your review. I wanted to respond to your comments because I would like you to give us another chance in the future. We had very heavy rains a few days before you played and that is why the course was cart path only. We were also very busy because of Masters weekend, so those two things made the course play very slowly. Normally, this is not the case. We have a brand new General Manager that just started a few days ago and we expect these types of issues to get cleaned up shortly. Thanks again, we hope to see you sometime soon.

Masters week find

Being from South Florida, it was great to drive from Atlanta airport to Wolf Creek in just minutes. Loved the hills. Florida is flat. Not accustomed to putting off the greens but a fun challenge. Reallly glad we played here.

Airport Friendly

Wolfceek is a good test of your golf game with many tee boxes to choose from. I average 285-300 yard drives and it force the driver on a lot of holes to stay in my bag. May have been a good thing because this course has trouble on both sides of the golf course on many holes. Greens are fair for this time of the year, rolling pretty good and be sure to stay below the hole. Hole #8 is a great hole it requires a long iron to fairway wood no matter what tees you playing from. I'll most definitely play again very soon only at a GolfNow deal. It's going to be in great shape this summer.

Excellent Track

Played Wolf Creek on Saturday and had a great day. Course is in surprisingly good shape for this time of year and greens were very good to excellent. Course is challenging but not overly so and can play very long depending on tee selection. We finished in 4 hours at prime time morning on Saturday which is excellent. Not a lot of amenities other than golf but all that you need. Will be back.

Good course 2nd time they have closed the front nine

I like Wolf Creek. It is a challenging course and is generally good value for your money. But I have played it 5x and this is the second time that either the front nine or the back nine has been closed for course repair or seeding. Discounts should be offered when this happens and not just we will take your money and you can play the back nine or front nine twice. Frustrating. Thanks
