Victoria Hills Golf Club
About
Victoria Hills Golf Club located in Deland has jaw-dropping beauty. Golfers will appreciate Roland Garl's vigorous bunkering, which oscillates between the expansive and the intricate, depending on the hole. An array of pot bunkers, waste bunkers, native wetlands, water sprays, bunkers integrated within a natural setting, and elevation changes rarely seen on a Florida golf course await you. Garl's course is graceful and feminine
Victoria Hills could easily be called "The State of Florida's Garden of Golf,"- inland settings such as this are virtually unprecedented in this state. Yet while the splendor and natural beauty of the property are notable, this is not simply eye candy and lazy golf. Victoria Hills, as one player put it, "is a blast to play". In any evaluation, it's difficult to imagine how a golfer would not rate a round here as one of their most enjoyable in Florida.

Front nine was the worst I’ve ever seen! Back nine was very good condition!
Conditions
Horrible - absolutely a16 holes of mud- putting impossible. They should pay participants to play. This was a great course- but no one
Has maintained the greens!
Course is on the coming back.
Every time I play the course is a little bit better. Fairways are starting to get some grass on them lots of areas under repair and roped off to allow grass to grow. Sand traps have all recently been cleaned up and raked. Front 9 greens still have a long way to go but they are growing s my end of spring I look for this place to be superb again for the summer.
The course is in rough shape but they are working on it....as previouse reviews have said. But the staff is amazing and fun. And the course was busy..
Worst Greens Ever!
The course should not be open for play. The greens have a disease and are covered with white powder that makes them unplayable. The course layout was very nice. The bunkers were very nice. The fairways were terrible. Granted, it is winter golf but that is no excuse for large areas hard pan dirt. We missed our tee time with GolfNow. Although they had openings, the manager insisted we call GolfNow and see if they could change the tee as opposed to letting us play. Eventually they allowed us to play at a discounted green fee. If we had known the condition of the course, we would have gladly played somewhere else. The cart guys, pro shop attendant and bartender were very nice. The clubhouse was very nice.
Getting better
Grass is starting to regrow on the front nine holes that had an issue. They are working as hard as nature allows to get the course back into good condition. There is still a lot of work to do but there is progress.
Front nine still needs the most work. 7 of the 8 greens are horrible. The greens are bumpy or like putting on concrete (rolled dirt) or a combination. But I see improvement that gives me hope.
Great layout, fantastic friendly and helpful staff, and back nine is good. We always enjoy the round and we're looking forward to future rounds with good conditions.
Improving
Have played course since it opened. have seen it decline to basically unplayable conditions, but recently with new Managment on the physical course conditions are improving, hopefully this will continue, and hopefully golfers will be considerate of the game and remember walking from the cart path to the green is part of the game
Very poor condition
This course is in extremely poor condition I had played it about a month ago and it was poor! Thought I’d try again but it has gotten worse. Most greens are less than 50% grass covered and tee areas and fairways are not much better!
Course is normally really nice
All green on front 9 being reworked because of something
It will get better
This course was lost last summer when retention ponds for watering had to have new liners installed along with new pump packages on both front and back nine where replaced. That led to the fall of the fairways, greens where still in good shape until someone on staff supposedly used the wrong nosals on a sprayer and killed the greens. New Greens keeper seems to be working hard to get course back to its glory days but that’s gona take time. Now that they have all new irrigation and areas roped off should get better. Might aught to make the entire front 9 cart path only for a while. Sure hope it gets back to great condition by end of this season because this is a great layout with challenging sand traps.
Terrible condition
Course is in rough shape and needs a lot of work. It’s sad cause it use to be good course years ago.
Front Side Greens
The front side 9 Greens need help/work. My only drawback to course. Back side 9 greens much better. Layout is challenging yet fun & rewarding.
What Happened?
Played this course about 4 years ago and it was in good shape and liked the layout. NOW ~Tee boxes are beat up with weeds. Bunkers need work. Fairways bumpy and balding with weeds. The front 9 greens are a mess. Something happened to this place. Ownership? Superintendent? Somebody should have to answer for this. What a shame!
Save your money !!!!!
This course has a beautiful lay out, it’s very challenging with bunkers and water. Ideally would be great. However the shape that the course is in doesn’t justify any amount being paid to play. You are unable to putt on the green the fairways are without grass. The course staff was great very hospitable and friendly. That was a great experience, with that being said, the course needs some time to come back to be in any kind of shape to be played on. It’s pains me to say that I wouldn’t even go out there if it were free. Taking nothing away from the friendly and kind staff. Hope this helps.
