I’ve played this course a few years ago and loved it. Great layout, fast track with fast greens. Then the course got in bad shape. I hadn’t played it in a couple of years until Sunday. The course is improving, but the greens are so slow that they’re practically un-puttable. I hope they can figure this out because it has so much potential!

I've played here many times and its had ups and downs in condition. 15 years ago it was pristine, then slid, now coming back to its former glory. Beautiful track that doesn't seem to be in Florida; more like the Carolinas. Choice of tees for all skill levels, great food and service inside. Cart guy was great. Not in perfect condition yet but getting there. Play it.

The recent reviews claiming improving conditions are not based in reality. The course has the appearance of having been closed for a year. Crabgrass, dead spots, wash outs, standing water, and mosquitoes were the themes of the day. There was no discernible fairway lines and greens were rolling 3 on the stimp. Cow pasture grass on the range. Sadly, this is the worst conditioned course I have ever seen or attempted to play in my 24 years of playing golf, and this place used to be my favorite. Someone needs to either save it or blow it up for good because the maintenance is an insult to this fantastic Ron Garl design.

I agree with everyone who says the course has gone downhill and it’s not what it use to be, however VH does have 3 things in its favor: layout, greens and price. The layout is still one on the best in central Florida dispute all the residential construction that popped up on the back 9. The greens are in good condition and very consistent. The price is appropriate for the overall course condition. At $50 it compares to similar courses.

The fairways need work, but have enough grass that you can roll your ball to a spot within 2-3 steps if you find one on the many washed out areas or weeds. I did not find one of the numerous fairway or greenside bunkers so I can’t comment on their condition. The area that needs the most improvement is just off the greens. As mentioned earlier, the greens are fine, but miss the green and you have no idea what you will encounter: 6 inch unmown grass, weeds that are the size of a cantaloupe, bare spots or puddles due to low lying areas with poor drainage.

I can handle having to roll the ball in the fairway and knowing that the greens will reward a will stuck putt. The frustration is miss the green, and the inconsistency + condition of the area 5 yards off the green wears on you after a few missed greens.

For the price, it’s worth a play- but buyer beware.

Best value for the money. Excellent layout and fun to play. Greens and fairways were not perfect but for the money it was a great time. I will definitely play this course again.

I used to play here several years ago but hadn’t been in a while due to the poor conditions. The course is dramatically improved now and would not hesitate to play there again soon.

This course has had it ups and downs, but lately it is coming back. The greens were in the best shape ever. Fairways have also improved from what I saw 6 months ago. Pace of play was quite decent. I love the layout of this course and will be adding it to my list of courses to play.

It is a great tract, but some of the fairways need some serious TLC

The course was in bad shape but the outside staff is excellent, they offer ice and water this is a plus.

The fairways are in bad shape patches of dead areas, crab grass everywhere, greens some dead areas and the rough is beyond rough, grass is so high hard to find the ball if off the fairway at all. With that said the afternoon prices are not bad..

They have a way to go but they are on it. Course is in the best condition has has been in since last year. The drought had a lot to do with the decline in conditions which have been corrected thanks to mother nature and the team caring for the course.

I play here regularly, but it has been several weeks since I played and WOW, what a difference 3 months has made to this course. Greens have been steadily improving and recovered quickly after being punched in early June. The greens are now as good as any course in this area. The fairways have shown tremendous improvement. There is actually proper grass in fairways with good lies all around. Step by step progress is being made and this course is coming back to its former self! Highly recommend giving it a chance.

Although the greens were recently aerated (within a month), they were surprisingly true if not a tad slow (as opposed to fast and very bumpy several months back). New grass growing in the fairways (along with some weeds) is a very dramatic improvement. I commend the superintendent and staff on the work that they put in to improve the course (and mother nature helped as well with the rain we've been having). I've added the course back into my daily rotation. And so should you.
