Victoria Hills Golf Club located in Deland has jaw-dropping beauty. Golfers will appreciate Roland Garl's vigorous bunkering, which oscillates between the expansive and the intricate, depending on the hole. Victoria Hills could easily be called "The State of Florida's Garden of Golf,"- inland settings such as this are virtually unprecedented in this state. Yet while the splendor and natural beauty of the property are notable, this is not simply eye candy and lazy golf. Victoria Hills, as one player put it, "is a blast to play". In any evaluation, it's difficult to imagine how a golfer would not rate a round here as one of their most enjoyable in Florida.

A very interesting and challenging layout. Fairways in poor shape. Greens are very slow and bumpy. This could be a great course if management would invest some time and money in the upkeep.

so sad
The first time I played this course was about two months before it opened to the public as it was being built. It was better than under construction than it is now. It is so sad. The trees are dying all over the course, the cart paths have drop-offs at the end of the path that will shake your teeth, and the weeds in the fairway have taken over where there used to be grass. The greens are so uncertain and bumpy that you cannot putt unless you jam the putt. This course could be in the top ten in Florida. The new owner tried but bought it at the wrong time. Please, PLEASE improve this course. On the positive side, they just got new carts....and they are nice.
Improving
This course's motto should be "it will be better each time you play it". Many of the harsh reviews were warranted, but over the last 2 months the improvements are very noticeable. The greens are perfect, albeit, a bit slow. The fairways are coming along and the work being done by the new superintendent are visible and paying off.

Major Issues
Used to love this course but the Owner should be sued for grass abuse! I saw signs of fertilizer but this course needs major work due to negligence! Greens were green but bumpy as heck and most had some weeds too, it made putting a real challenge. Probably 15 of the greens have no grass around them for chipping and no signs of any attempt to fix it! The 5th hole is almost completely bare, needs complete overhaul. The price they are charging is outrageous for the condition it is. I spoke to a regular in the parking lot and they all praying that someone will buy it and actually care for it.

Don't be fooled.
Don't be fooled by the pictures. There is very little on this course that is green. The layout is excellent but that's where it ends.
Wish the owner would look at those pictures to see how good it should be!
Goat Tract
This course has been neglected to the point that it’s an embarrassment. Greens are overrun with weeds and/or bare dirt, fairways have little grass, rough is like a sand hazard- virtually no part of this course is being kept up to an acceptable standard.
Been awhile seen I played here and was greatly disappointed. Tee boxes and fairways grass was sparse. Greens were in need of attention. Sorry to see this as course has a great layout.

I see improvement
It seems that they are trying to take back this course and i love to see it. For the first time in years i saw the sprinklers running! It’s playable if you don’t mind moving the ball a little in the fairway to find some grass. I really hope they can take control and get this course the potential it has. Rates are a little steep but i also see some improvements on price in the past few months. Not a $50 course but definitely $35ish and under is a good price for the condition it’s in now.

Do not play this course …. fair warning
I would have to say this course is in the worst condition of any course I have played in the last 20 years in this area. I’m not sure what has happened, but I will not return without knowledge of new management and course improvement .

Fairway and greens are not good….. t boxes are better that a year ago

Scenic and enjoyable round
The course layout is challenging. The course has had some ups and downs in the past few years. I think there has been some improvement since I see more grass on fairways. The greens were not rolling fast. They seem to have been aereated and sand was still present.
The layout of each hole is quite scenic.i hope they improve this course further.
I think there is lots of potential for this course to be one that could become a favorite.

Signs of hope
I heard from a neighbor that things were starting to turn around at the course so I checked it out for myself. Based on the price of the round I was planning on playing a different course, but for convenience I played here.
The staff working outside are truly the best employee they have. Those guys are always friendly and a pleasure to chat with.
They have new carts which os great. Badly needed.
Some holes are in great condition. Most of the greens are actually green. Tee boxes are decent, and the least of my concerns.
The 5th hole needs to be closed and completely redone. The fairway is completely washed out. It’s a lift, clean and place hole most of the way. 10 still needs some work. The green on 10 is great once you get there. Thankfully not a long hole.
Only played out of one trap and thankfully it was one that had been attended to recently. They are dirt not sand, but the dirt was at least free of rocks, debris and weeds.
Fingers crossed the owner keeps the new course superintendent around.I’ll try it out again in a month and see if it’s progressing.
