The Eagles Golf Club - Forest

About
Designed by Ron Garl and Gary Koch, the Forest Course at The Eagles Golf Club features the signature island-green sixth hole which rivals the famous 17th hole at the TPC at Sawgrass. The two outstanding championship courses at The Eagles Golf Club are kept in "tournament condition" year-round. As its name implies, much of Forest course winds through an impressive pine forest.

Been a While
App. 5 yrs. since playing the Lakes course { usually play Forest} and did not disappoint. The Tee boxes and fairways were immaculate, not a bunch of roll in the fairways but man you can compress your golf ball with excellent lies. The greens were fast and true. Lakes is a great , traditional layout. This was my buddy's {5 handicap} first time and he absolutely loved it. shot 77 and had a lot of G.I.R'S but must have missed at least a 1/2 dozen makeable birds. The prices at the 19th hole are very reasonable and a great bunch of folks working there.
The Forest disappointed
I arrived at the course to warm up on the driving range, and I was told they had no balls at 10am. I did get lucky and a member happened to have a few balls left, and they gave them to me. I went to the range and the mats were disgusting and all torn up. My playing partner arrived and we went on to the course. The tee areas are sparse with barely any grass. All of the fairways had many patches of weeds or no grass at all. The greens were no better. Every green had black patches with no grass.
The kicker here is that the course has ZERO water to drink on the course! It is a Florida course in the Summer and there was no water to be found. There were no water jugs on the holes, The bathrooms had no fountains. We got ready to make the turn and thought we would be close to the clubhouse to get a drink. NOT the case! We had to drive down the road 5 mins to get back to the clubhouse before we passed out and then drove back to the 10th hole. On the 10th hole, all they have is a crappy vending machine. You have to download an app to make any purchase, with some janky QR code. Are you serious? In this environment of credit card fraud, you think I am going to pay for something that way? I have not played that course in about 5 or 6 years, and can't really believe how bad it is. They had no starter on duty or rangers out on the course either. A cart girl would have been way to much to ask for. LOL.
I would not pay more than $25 to play this course, EVER.
Former Legacy Course Turned Sour?
So the staff, especially the guys in pro shop, were all fantastic. Today was my first time out, and the only reason we decided here was because of a hot deal, but the course itself was not reflective of the non hot deal pricing. Very first green had several craters. Didn't look like any repairs were planned, and not marked off as GUR. Shook it off, figured maybe first hole was rough due to frequent play. This condition carried over to I want to say at least half the greens, if not more. Punishing play if not hitting strictly fairways. Balls disappeared into the thick, unkempt rough. Seems this course has horrendous drainage. Lakes on multiple approaches to the green. Several sections not staked off when they likely could be. I really wanted to play this course because I knew at one point it was a local legacy course. My dad would have regular tournaments at this course 20-30 years ago. Time has not served it well. On course ammeneities were lacking. We saw cart service ONCE, AFTER we finished 9 and could simply pop into the clubhouse to grab some glizzys and beverages. No water throughout the course at all. And I think we saw 1 bathroom? MAYBE 2? Sad state of affairs that this place is $75 AM tee times in off season. Hot deal and 2 of us playing for $70 i can kind of swallow. But the hot deals seem to be what this place should charge for regular fees.
The rough was tough
I would consider this an easy course from the white tips. We played the black tips and it changed the layout of the course any shots in the rough were tough to get out off.
Florida Hot
Sper hot day. No drinking water on coarse except for bathroom sinks. Cart girl was frequent so if you didn't bring enough water you could buy some.
Many greens had that "nut" grass all over them. Some were so laden with these obstacles it was impossible to miss them.
Other than the net grass popping up on many of the greens the course played well.
Stay hydrated!!!
Used to be a nice track
The course is not in good condition none then are, tee boxes almost none existing, to greens in bad shape.
You add 200 bucks for 2 , and is not worth it.
If it was in great conditions it be not a problem, but not the case.
There was a 6 some group in front of us that did not help the pace of play.
Shame because this two courses used to be awesome
4 hours for nine holes
I would not typically write something like this, but the description of this course is what was my main draw to this place. They cannot boast a long standing tradition with no ranger. People were clearly drunk and taking far too long, absurd for the price.
Great pics, but.....
The course could be very nice, but the greens are awful. Sometimes it was hard to tell where the rough ended and the green began.
This course is TERRIBLE
The Greens on this course were the worst I’ve ever played on!!!! What a Rip Off!!!
Not only do I feel upset that I paid money for this course I feel upset that there was NO way to get my money back.
DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY ON EITHER of the two courses at the Eagles Courses.
Absolutely terrible
Worst value possibke
The place is the definition of a dog track. If it was $40 it would be fine, but $90 for 18 holes and a small bucket was a rip off. Horrible conditions on fairways and greens. DO NOT waste your money here, TPC Tampa is significantly better for an extra $30
Really liked the course. No complaints!! Enjoyed my day at the course.
Pace of play is horrendous
Look, I understand that $50 on a Sunday is a solid deal, and to be fair, the course was in good shape—especially after two months of drought followed by a full day of rain.
But waiting over 30 minutes on a single tee box? That’s ridiculous. Several groups ahead of us gave up and left, all thanks to a fivesome of seniors who refused to let anyone play through.
I get that The Eagles is a budget-friendly course, but weekend play really needs a Ranger to keep things moving. This is the second time I’ve tried to get out and play, and called it quits after ten holes. It’s not so budget friendly when you never play a full round.
Eagles Golf Club Forest
Came on vacation and found this course, it was nice, a little wet but they allowed you to drive on it. All green Swede good.
Great time at the Eagles
A couple of the greens on the back nine had some minor burn spots and bumpy roll but overall had a great time.
We're thrilled you made it back out here again and that you had a great round, uYEXG9382YE! We appreciate the great tips and hope you make it back again soon!
