Potential
I’ve played the Forest course a few times, first time playing The Lakes. A bit more challenging than the Forest course but needs some work. Hole 2 doesn’t even have grass in the fairway. Seriously. It’s roped off and 50/50 crab grass and dirt. Greens need to be rolled. It’s like putting on a Persian rug. Most tee boxes are like hitting out of the first cut.
Lakes course
fairways were bare ground Greens in horrible shape
This course is in the worst condition ever, avoid it
Tee boxes
Played the forest which I prefer to the lakes, but I found the tee boxes very poor.
It would have been a pleasure to play if they improved the tee boxes.
Needs a lot of work.
Eagles
Greens were an embarrassment. They have a pitiful pro shop. Golf carts no power and rental clubs a shocker. This entire round was a joke on a very unkempt property. I think it has good prospects though. At least it was cheap!
Not worth it
At the moment, is not worth your time, it looks like they are doing a renovation.
The greens are just bad, the fairways are not good and the tee boxes, are bad as well .
As I say, looks like some renovations is on the way, or at least I hope that is the case.
As per the pace of play, it is the new norm, those who need to take lessons, are out there ruining the rounds but is something you has to deal with this days, we only play 6 holes and quit.
We won’t be going there for a few months until the renovation are completed,. This was the lakes, corse I don’t know know how the forest is playing.
Not in the best shape
They are working on the greens, which is fine. I don’t think they should be charging $40.00 for the shape it’s in.
First timer review .
We went out golfing Sunday late morning after finding this course on a Hot Deal a couple days before. It was fun to try a new course in a beautiful area of Odessa. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful . The Lakes course had nice fairways with beautiful old trees lining most of them. Greens were a-little bumpy at a few holes but overall very beautiful. Pace was relaxed most of the way through. I would suggest a map of the holes to follow on a score card or on the cart visor since we were not familiar with the course at the start. Clubhouse had a nice restaurant and bar and overall a friendly experience.
What happened to the greens
Really like playing both Eagles courses. Had just played the Forest course on Tuesday then played the Lakes course on Thursday. The Forest course was in ok condition but the Lakes course was certainly not. So many baren fairway spots and many of the greens were in atrocious conditions. So many of those greens need to be completely replaced instead of the sloppy patch work installed. Won't be back until l see good reviews again.
Greens poor
Was disappointed in the condition of the greens.
Also at 1 hole there were workers right on the green and they didn't move off while we played.
Poor condition
About half the greens were in bad shape and one was undergoing renovation and was unplayable. Fairways were average. With the poor condition of the greens, I would have expected a discount but didn't get one. I have played here before and this was the worst I have seen it. It's usually in good shape.
Yikes
The course is in shockingly rough shape. Back nine was is a bit better but the front couldn’t be worse. Even if you hit one in the fairway, there’s a good chance you’ll be on a bare patch. The greens were lumpy and unkept with large swaths of dirt patches. They charged me $55 which was $55 too many. Play anywhere else. If you do play the Eagles, try the Forrest. They need to just shut down the lakes. Charging people to play it is downright criminal.
Not worth the money
The greens were in poor shape with lots of dead patches. Yeah, I know, it hasn't rained in a while but seems the other course must have received all the love an attention. Probably won't go back.
