Almost perfect.

Paid just north of $60 for 18 holes of golf on a Friday, considerably cheaper ($30-$60 less) than many other courses in the greater DC metro that are objectively beneath Stonewall in condition, layout, scenery, pace, and service. Course was in good condition. Not great, but for end of July, better than I’d had hoped for. Pace was fine. Waited on about four or five tee boxes throughout the round, none of which lasted more than 90 seconds. The one issue, which didn’t end up being an issue, was being informed around 7:30 that the carts were due back in around 8:30. When asked why 8:30, and why that wasn’t disclosed upon booking/paying, we were told something along the lines of safety. When asked if we’d be refunded pro rata for any holes we’d forego in playable conditions, didn’t get an answer. We ended up walking off 18 around 8:50, with visibility being slightly limited for our final two shots. Ended up being a non issue, but the attempt to implement a policy three hours into a group’s round that could easily be advertised upon booking is either lazy, disingenuous or both. Such a policy could very well make the difference between a full round and only15-16 holes. Let people know what they’re paying for when they’re paying for it. That being said, it didn’t end up being an issue. 18 holes for $60-a-head at one of the top public courses in the area. Incredible value, especially compared to its peers in Northern Va. Staff couldn’t have been friendlier.

Average conditions at premier price

Fairways had a lot of damage from unrepaired divots. Bunkers are in bad shape and need refreshed sand. Greens are damaged from unrepaired ball marks. Based on conditions, I'd say the cost should be more in the range of $60-$80 per round, not $80-$120.

Great design poor condition due to golfers

Great design course and fun to play. The golfers though… ruin this course, fairways destroyed from people not replacing divots or filling. Greens you don’t have a chance at a flat surface. Ball marks everywhere and not repaired. I think if they really firm up the greens would help with that. As is…I don’t think it’s worth the cost, but a nice course

Stonewall is arguably the best course in N. VA (not counting country clubs). But their sand traps are terrible, with only a few having playable sand. We pull balls out of the really bad traps and into the rough. The owners really should fix this.

First time playing Stonewall

I played in July and was very impressed with the course layout, pace of play and staff. The course conditions were just average for the cost $140 weekend mid-morning greens fee. The bunker conditions were atrocious. Felt more like dirt than sand and many had standing water and tractor tracks in them. A few of the greens were in distressed condition. The views on a few of the holes were amazing. I travelled from Leesburg to play here because I had heard good things. I am a member of a private club there and while I realize this is not a private club I felt like the course could be so much better with better upkeep and especially the bunkers.

Great Course

We loved this course. It is beautiful, the greens were great, The day we played when were were on the back nine, where the picture was taken, we heard really loud music coming from the woods and couldn't figure out what was going on. When we got to the green, we looked over at a course next to Stonewall and it was the LIV Tour. That was really cool to see the pros only briefly, at the driving range on that course.
