Great Location - Greens Need Some Love
I will always love Stonewall Golf Club. It sits on a magnificent piece of land along Lake Manassas and has some very scenic views for an inland golf course. Unfortunately, with this type of public course, people come from all over, don't have a stake in the course's success, and don't fix their freaking divots. The greens were really beat up and didn't roll all that true.
I don't blame the golf course management. It's hard to deal with the amount of traffic they get and keep the greens pure. However, it's unreasonable to charge someone $100 in this area and then let them putt on anything less than perfect greens.
I'll still come back because the surrounding is so nice. But it's sad to see the course in that kind of shape.

Beautiful course in very good condition
Sand traps need some work. I guess I need work staying out of them also. Fairways were mostly fantastic, clean divots and cart has a sand mix for repairs. Ice cooler attached to the carts also and the starter fills it with ice. Cart gals came around a lot. Maybe need a couple more water stations out on the course.
Overall a fantastic course, very picturesque also, surrounded by stunning homes and beautiful lake views.

Such A Disappointment
The course from tee to green is in very poor condition. All of the greens are marred by pitch marks, traps are in poor condition and not raked, fairways are a mess, and many of the tees are torn up with large bare spots. The entire course needs rehab and proper maintenance. I know course conditions suffer late summer and after extended heat waves, but that is not the case at Stonewall. It is, in my opinion, due to poor maintenance as other and less expensive courses in the area are in much better shape.
On a positive note, the staff, service, and amenities are excellent.

Nice course.
Great layout. Amazing scenery. Too bad people have no concept of repairing ball marks here. Not much the course can do. Winds up being slow and bumpy greens on an otherwise lovely course.

Pace of play was horrid on this date
Group of 4 in front of us were not good, which was fine, but they did not implement ready golf or know proper golf etiquette for keeping up with the group in the front. We could have finished the round in 3.5 hours but our round lasted nearly 5 hours. 1+ hour was waiting to tee off. Always enjoy golfing at Stonewall. One of my fav course in the area, but today slow play ruin a round of golf.

Best in Northern Virginia
It is the best public course in Northern Virginia. The layout and condition of couse is well maintained. The price includes range which make it competitive to other lower tier courses in the neighborhood.
