Excellent customer service

Course was in good shape, greens and fairways were nice. Greens a little slow, but it was early and they were still a little wet from dew. Kind of a tricked up layout with a lot of forced carries and blind hazards in the middle of the fairways, but open enough to hit driver when you need to.

Customer service is some of the best I've experienced at a (semi) public course...so good it jumps out at you. The cart attendant, pro shop, kitchen and starter all went well above what I've come to expect, as a lot of courses don't seem to realize they are in the service industry.

Overall, a very pleasant experience, will play again.

Great layout by Davis Love- It's a must play in the Raliegh Area

This course has lots of elevation changes, forced (but fair) carries and some very sloped greens. Greens were relatively slow, but to be fair, it's Summer in NC. Traps were in excellent condition, but the tees had been punched recently. I played it from the tips, but this course has good options to enjoy from any tee, including junior tees in the fairways.

One of My Favorites

This course is always in great shape. Staff is always friendly. Pace of play is surprisingly fast considering all the trouble one can get into. A lot of holes play downhill, and require less than a driver off the tee.

To score well on this course, you'll need to keep the ball on the short grass. If you can do that, it will be a lot of fun.

Fun design

Played end of June and saw more deer than golfers. Course was in great shape and greens played very slow. Some holes were fun because they really made you think. Definitely felt for the price this was a wonderful value.

The place to play

Now the weather was great the course in great shape and it's the best of the 3 courses in this corp. (Falls Village, Chapel Ridge) I found this course to have great fairways compared to Falls Village and Chapel Ridge. My partner and I played the course in 2 1/2 hours! Only having to be waved through one foursome. I will return! I left some easy shots out there that I want back!

Great deal

Great deal for the price. If this course was in Pinehurst it would probably cost over $100 to play. Great staff all around. Only gripe was had too let several singles go through our foursome. Really no big deal considering we played after noon. Also a couple of the greens weren't pristine but this isn't supposed to be number 2 for $40 (golfnow).. Unreal course for the price. Definitity tough. Nice mix of short par 4s with some long par 4s. Play it!!

GREAT COURSE

This course was a challenge. The course was in great shape, elevation changes, obstacles, some long holes. Greens were good - a little soft from lots of rain the night before. I have a 15 index, played from the whites at 6000+. Had a really good time. Highly recommend booking tee time thru GolfNow for the discount.

Beautiful course.

I was a little concerned about playing here due to all the reviews saying how challenging the course was, but I'm glad we played the Preserve. It was absolutely beautiful and we had deer visit us on 2 holes. Don't get me wrong we lost a few balls, but it was well worth it. It's a course to be played for special occacions!

Tough course but worth it

A very challenging course but beautiful to play. Drives and second shots have to be precise on most holes. You can't beat the course for the money

Aeration Alert?

First off, I have played this course before and have had good experiences each time. Today however was a different story. As soon as we walked up to the first green we realized the greens had just been punched that morning. We were not prepared for this and I was very disappointed/agitated that either GolfNow or The Preserve had not put that information on their page when I was booking the round.

This made for a very frustrating round of golf on the greens as our putts bounced around and zig-zagged on almost every stroke.

I always count on GolfNow to have the proper information on the booking pages for the courses like the Aeration Alert icon but this time I feel misinformed and a little duped.

Sorry for the negative review, like I said, all my other experiences at this course have been positive but this was very frustrating.

Great course: my new local favorite

I loved the course, the setup and the conditions of the tees fairways and greens.
This is a challenging course with tall grass most everywhere off the fairway, elevation changes and it plays kind of long.
Overall my favorite of the course within 20 minutes of apex. But I will only play it when there is some discounted tee times. It is a little spendy for every weekend.

Tough test from tips

The slopes on the fairways are extreme which can penalize even good drives if not place or shaped properly. Plays 7100 yards from the LOVE tees. 145/74 rating. Not for the faint of heart. If you score 80 or better on normal courses, play from the LOVE tees. Otherwise play shorter tees and you will not leave dejected. You have to play this course at least a couple of times to know how to play the course. Overall this is a good course to test your game but I won't play this routinely. Davis Love might leave happy after playing here but most won't.

Disappointment

Golfing conditions were below average, a far cry from several years ago.
Preserve Members have to be embarrassed. I might as well save the money and play at cheaper courses

Good golf at a good price

It's a good course at a good value. Good place to play with a group of mixed H/C's. Different boxes cover the skill levels without compromising the flow of the round.

Greens Too Slow

Only complaint is the greens, which happen to be the most important part if the course. Way too slow, lot of divots not repaired. I know I repaired 25, most of which we're not mine:-)!
