Course condition
The course was flooded at several holes and overall the course was unplayable but still charged £18
Great but disappointed
Played the course a few times and loved it.. how massively disappointed that on arrival I could see course was flooded and only a few holes where playable. Could get across bridge to play 5th, 6th and 7th. Understanding as recent weather causing river to burst banks in some areas.. would be very helpful if updates on course conditions where live before booking. Waste of the one person fee. Understand that pandemic is causing issue but for some to have a look in morning and update would take to much time or hassle. Definitely booking to lay again but not just now.
Great day
We had a great day at Cadrona. The course was a bit boggy in some areas but only to be expected in the middle of October. Course layout is brilliant. Would recommend a buggy as course is really long.
Below standards
Played the course several times over a few years and it is gradually getting into worse condition.
The greens were very very poor and bunkers worse
I’m aware current Climate makes it hard but even then still Well below The expected. Level
Extreamly Poor.
Played today and very wet under foot Greens are in very poor condition with weed growth, bare patches and pitting - ball bounces along the green rather than roles, see better greens at the fairground and public putting greens at the sea side.
Bunkers are beyond repair over growing with weeds and grass. Fairways recently cut as there were lots of grass cutting all over. Even with Covid and lock down this course is in extremely poor condition.
Waited for coffee prior to tee off however it never arrived.
Long drive from Glasgow for golf day out and very disappointed
The MacDonald resort web page parts a very different story to the reality of the day. Deffo won't be back
Golf trip to the Borders
We had played Glencourse and Peebles on previous days and chose this one to finish off as it was listed as a championship course. I accept that staffing and maintenance of the course during Covid-19 must be challenging but both of our other 2 courses were delightful (and less expensive) and were in very good condition. It has a very picturesque layout but not having played it before we found signposting around the course lacking (several places we took a wrong turn to the next tee). The fairways had clumps of recently mown grass; the bunkers had not been racked for some time and some had plastic sheeting showing through and clumps of grass growing; many of the greens were in poor condition with large areas of bare patches making it almost impossible to putt.
Cardrona golf
Magnificent setting course enjoyable unfortunately greens were terrible and bunkers were a jungle (plenty off them edges uncut for months lost a few balls in the bunkers)
Not good
Would have been good but not well maintained long rough no sand in bickers enjoyed it but very long walk between some of the holes but value for money that we payed
First time on this course. Understandably the course has yet to catch up with its full maintenance regime due to covid. however this is still a great course and a big challenge. Very long course and the long grass in places and unforgiving rough added to the challenge,. Despite this it was good value for money.
Poor condition
Second time playing the course today. Compared to the great conditions I played in 2 years ago, the course seems to have let itself down somewhat. The course appears overgrown in large parts and the greens were in terrible condition full of moss and bobbles. As for the bunkers, the less said about those the better. Such a shame that a once great course has come to this. Serious TLC needed in order to stop this course going down the pan.
Conditions
Having played this great course I was dismayed to see the conditions of it .Bunkers overgrown and greens patchy and bare. Not a greenkeeper in site .Owners should hang their heads in shame.
Cardrona first
Very disappointing
The greens were attrotious, very little grass, plenty moss and are patches.
The bunkers were full of weeds and haddened been raked for months.
The grass around bunkers was 1 foot high and full of weeds.
No strimmers been used for months.
Signage for Tees were no existing on a few holes
Greens are appalling
Fairways were nice. Rough was heavy and quite harsh. Bunkers need a lot of attention. Greens were probably the worst I have ever seen. Other courses at this time are in much better condition.
Tough times
Great location and course for long hitters but in these early stages of recovery the course requires a lot of TLC.
Birthday round of golf for my son
Hard to give an honest review of this course and facilities due to the circumstances of covid 19.So here it is.
Very friendly member of staff who explained how the course was playing,eg bunkers were classed as gur ,landed in a few ,not many people taking care of course but apart from some greens being a little bit sparse of grass and bumpy it was a lovely course to play, smashin setting ,score could have been better or a lot worse due to green condition as i said .
This is a course you need to play a few times to get the right line for the second/third shot and i would recommend this to anyone who likes a challenge
There are not many courses i have played that i would like to play again but this is definately one of them and for the price of a round its good value for money,oh before i forget great to have a tee thats level /flat ,makes a big difference when teeing off
