Cardrona Golf Course

Played using GolfNow Hot Deal for whatever reason we had pretty much the course to ourselves.

I have played course before but not for some time.

The course is a championship course long and if walking the distance between some of the holes. If you hire buggy will not affect you,

The big thing about the visit was the condition of the course. The fairways were exceptional the green although recently sanded were in excellent shape.

All players were full of praise and surprised by lack of Golfers.

A Tough Test

Got a great Hot Deal for £14 and turned up to find out the Tartan Tour were teeing off tomorrow, so I ended up playing tournament conditions in the middle of a pro practice round! Course was in fantastic condition, as would be expected. Very flat as played exclusively on the valley floor, but a stunning mountain backdrop. Complements Peebles GC up the road very well, with this definitely being the more punishing round. Cardrona is a great test of golf, with a great mix of interesting holes that severely punish bad shots, but handsomely rewards good golf. This really separates wheat from chaff, but well worth a visit. This is not an easy hotel course as you might expect, this is a proper golf course.

Love this course

Honestly for the price this course is it’s very well kept you wouldn’t expect a course in such good condition at the £30-£40 range but it is, tee boxes are immaculate and the fairways and greens are really good, staff are lovely aswell and there’s plenty of buggy’s to go round if you can’t be bothered walking (I’d recommend one it’s a very long course)

So close to being a great course..

I’ve played the course a number of times and it’s getting close to being the course it should be!

I really enjoy the layout (although it could do with a variety in the length of par 4s, through in a smaller one here and there). Could do with a water just now but most courses will be the same with the excellent weather recently. The rough is a lot fairer than previous rounds. The bunkers need some work. All really well placed but way too much sand in them. All excellent tee boxes, greens are in better condition than previous rounds. They do have a practice area but would benefit of having a few nets set up as well.

Wool moth infestations

Let’s start at the beginning

Hotel. Has a serious wool moth infestation in the rooms, had three rooms, all infested. Don’t use this hotel, you will take the moths home causing thousands in damage to your home.

Golf. Nobody rakes bunkers, my group had to make a local rule for the day to place the ball out of the footprints. We learned this from the past two years playing here. Too much walking between tees, some several hundred yards. Expect a 5 hour round £40 a buggy, it’s American golf, everyone getting drunk on the course. I would pass, I’m not coming back to play it again.

Not a bad course but was expecting better. The greens aren’t great - slow for the time of year (10th May) and not very well kept.

Course generally is pretty nicely designed. Miss the fairway though and your ball is gone!

Was expecting better but all in all a decent day out.

Excellent Condition/Round Value

Course is in excellent condition. £20 a round was excellent value. Only down side was the £40 for a buggy which is abit steep but didn’t mind paying since the round was so cheap.

Coarse was in great condition. Greens firm .

Coarse was in great condition. Green firm but receptive.

Only down side we tee’d off at 7.50 am and the pro shop was open so we couldn’t hire buggies. This is a long coarse about 6500 yards. It did spoil the back nine due to tiredness.

But will definitely come back as a lovely coarse with great views

Outstanding Value for Money

During the week, Cardrona make countryside golf accessible. Greens are in great condition now, and the rough has been cut back to make for a friendlier game. Access to changing rooms after with excellent shower facilities. Staff were very welcoming. You can play at any pace, very friendly players on the course. GolfNow even had a deal for a round and buggy if you wanted it for £40. Well done Cardrona and GolfNow.

Great course and affordable

I played with 2 others and we all agreed it was a great course and I’m fine condition

The weather was brilliant which helped

The course is long for me and took longer to go round so a buggy is probably good but we enjoyed the walk

Bunkers and greens in great condition too

Will definitely play again

I only marked down the amenities as we didn’t use them

A Challenging Course Wonderfully Scenery

This is a nice course with numerous good holes. The scenery is spectacular. Being winter aspects of the course were not prepped ,eg. bunkers were not raked. I got a buddy on a hot deal for £10 so £40 inclusive of buggy was very good value in my view.

I’d definitely play the course again, I imaging its length would come into play if the proper tees adding to the challenge.

Winter wonder

Excellent course to play during the winter months, big tees and big greens on all the time unlike the vast majority of other courses at this time of year. I would thoroughly recommend

Winter wonder

Course was in excellent condition for this time of year.

I would thoroughly recommend if you want a decent game at this time of year on a very good course, no winter greens or mats almost as good as a game in the summer

Only managed 16 holes - disheartening

Tee off at 11.40 behind 2 x four balls. Had to miss out holes 13 and 14 as it had taken just over 3.5 hours to play 12 holes, our fear was running out of adequate light to complete the round at that pace. Etiquette of the groups in front terribly poor. They had many chances to let us through but just ignored the fact they were causing such a hold up. Course in perfect condition for the time of year. Hats off to the green keepers. Just really disappointed that we didn’t manage to compete 18 holes in what should have been a more than adequate daylight window.

First time here in a few years, back to playing and looking well. A few greens had been cored but still ran well and true. Rest of the greens were great, fairways lush. A few greens to tees were muddy bcos of recent weather but overall an absolute bargain for £25!
