SilverRock Resort
About
SilverRock Resort is the city of La Quinta's first municipal golf course. This Arnold Palmer Classic Course is the home course of the Bob Hope Classic. At 7,239 yards, it is the longest course in Palm Springs and one of the longest courses on the PGA Tour. SilverRock sits right at the base of the Santa Rosa and Coral Mountains, which provide a stunning backdrop for every hole. It is closer to the mountains than any other public golf course in the area. The rugged landscape provides rocky outcroppings and massive native bunkers to contend with throughout the course. Beautiful water features also come into play on several holes. The SilverRock layout is challenging but the widths of the fairways are fair and playable and the holes are diverse enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels.

This was a great par 3! This is zoomed in so you dont quite get the percetion of the distance. A solid 175 or so, over water and well protected. Photo submitted by ThatGolfGuy on 09/26/2016

Must play
If you are here for golf, this is a must play course. Great variety, interesting back nine, greens and fairways in perfect condition, sand traps a bit thin. Staff were very friendly. This is up there with the PGA west courses, minus the facilities as they go thru their expansion.
My Fav in the desert
I love this course! Five stars all around.
The course is interesting, challenging, has the best scenery, and the staff is 10 stars friendly!
Too much construction
They should be more transparent about the amount of construction going on. I called and they told me it was only on two holes. In truth, they don’t have a clubhouse. Golf shop is in a temporary trailer. Every hole has some construction project visible.
They should be discounting prices. Disappointed.
Great conditions wasted on a bad layout
I want to like Silverrock. Honestly. I’ve played it a number of times over the last 16 years. It looks great, has a couple of really good holes (7 & 16, in particular) and is kept in pretty good shape. But I was reminded yesterday why it has fallen off my list of preferred courses. On too many holes, well hit shots get unfairly punished by the course layout. Between the numerous blind shots (with a lack of guidance from the GPS), fairways that are pinched into very narrow landing areas for most golfers off the blue or white tees, and the lack of good par 4s (there are only 8 in total, and only 2 where hitting driver makes sense for many (9 & 15), it’s not (IMO) a course that allows you to play to a rhythm or with confidence that a well struck shot won’t be punished.
Awesome course
Spectacular design, and views. Just forget that the villas around the course have not been finished and focus on the course. Really worth every penny! Yes, there is no club house at the moment but if you come just for golf you won't be disappointed!
Under Construction
I'm sure the course will be restored to it's once enjoyable state of play but until the hotel and housing construction is complete it literally has all the ambiance of a construction site from the clubhouse in a trailer to the dusty cart paths and lack of practice green. The greens are trampled and pock marked and some fairways have brown patches. This course gets tons of play and apparently people are prepared to pay a premium for the experience because it is very overpriced for the current state of play
Good with an *asterisk
Would I play here again? Yes. Did I like the layout and course conditions? Yes. Were there some issues?? Unfortunately, yes. It's a great course and a fun layout. The course conditions were above average. However, the on-going construction (several years now) is cumbersome. From the drive up (clubhouse is a trailer) to the cyclone fencing (it's EVERYWHERE) to the multiple unfinished houses & buildings just sitting and collecting weeds/trash...it takes away from the overall atmosphere. There was one pass of the cart girl. There was one place to get food/drinks (obscure location after the 8th green). There wasn't a marshall in site and our round took nearly 5 hours. It's too bad there are all these issues b/c SilverRock has so much potential.
Overbearing marshals
Beautiful day in La Quinta at SilverRock…ruined by an overbearing and pushy marshal on the second nine of the course. He followed us for 4-5 holes, observing our play, pushing us on (despite having space between us and the group behind), and once even entering our cart while we were putting to look at our gps display (I am assuming to check on our pace of play). On every hole we waited as appropriate to tee off behind the group ahead. We all felt rushed by the marshal, which affected our level of play. All were frustrated and upset by the intrusion into our anticipated fun day of golf with family on our annual trip to the desert. I feel that the on course staff needs some lessons in customer service, especially given the rate of green fees assessed. Highly disappointed.
Just ok
Much distraction w construction and maintenance vehicles.
Fun course in excellent condition
Things to know:
Unlimited range balls with round. Lots of driving to get to range, starter will call you from range with time to spare. There is a putting green at #1 tee to get some putts in before teeing off. I (solo) consolidated carts with a third of a threesome at #1. Have to drive to restaurant/bar as well. La Quinta has some good food options/bars/brewery and I liked it better than other valley "towns".
Really enjoyable round on a very fun course in amazing condition. Great way to finish my Palm Springs golf trip. Once construction is finished this will be an awesome spot and probably a lot more expensive than it is now. Lots of unique holes and all feel very different. Good mix of risk/reward.
My trip rankings as mid-handicapper (everything was great and I would play them all again)
SilverRock > Rams Hill > Desert Willow Firecrest > Indian Canyon South > Shadow Hills North > Indian Canyon North
Rams Hill would be #1 if conditions were a little better.
Best value: Indian Canyon especially with Replay
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the construction and maintenance vehicles. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
