SilverRock Resort
About
SilverRock Resort is the city of La Quinta's first municipal golf course. This Arnold Palmer Classic Course is the home course of the Bob Hope Classic. At 7,239 yards, it is the longest course in Palm Springs and one of the longest courses on the PGA Tour. SilverRock sits right at the base of the Santa Rosa and Coral Mountains, which provide a stunning backdrop for every hole. It is closer to the mountains than any other public golf course in the area. The rugged landscape provides rocky outcroppings and massive native bunkers to contend with throughout the course. Beautiful water features also come into play on several holes. The SilverRock layout is challenging but the widths of the fairways are fair and playable and the holes are diverse enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels.

This was a great par 3! This is zoomed in so you dont quite get the percetion of the distance. A solid 175 or so, over water and well protected. Photo submitted by ThatGolfGuy on 09/26/2016

Golfer Reviews
I'm sure this course use to be nice...
Summer rates were nice but the course was in worse condition than expected. Additionally, the builder of a bunch of houses on the course ran out of money several years ago and the half finished houses are an eyesore. Lastly, the proshop is in a temporary structure while the hotels are being built. In summary, you can tell this use to be a very nice course but in it's current shape, I would not recommend, even with the discounted summer rates.
Terrible conditons
Drey spots on fairways. Greens not even,
Front desk staff lady excellent. More front staff personnel in any business can learn from her.
Give her: ***** five star
Heard good things.
I realize travelling to golf in Palm Springs in August is a crap shoot due to maintenance but Silver Rock seemed to be in a state of disarray. The housing development surrounding the course apparently ran out of money and it was somewhat of a ghost town surrounding the course. There is no current clubhouse other than some shacks and portable structures. The course layout is great although conditions were less than desirable. Long dirt paths to find tee boxes. I would wait until this project is completed or repaired to golf there again.
Every single fairway was either mud bound or dead spots. Many greens have fungal damage as well. Course layout was very good. They are still building out homes and the resort, and the course shows that. Go cart path only for anwhile and get fairways in shape and this course will be outstanding.
Poor Course Conditions
15 Years ago this was a great course in La Quinta when opened but continued course changes to make room for a hotel changing holes (disappointing) and now a development that the City of LaQuinta had to have is in bankruptcy…..what a mess and lesson on ruining a great course. The fairways are dirt for 40% , holes closed and cutting a par five into two holes.
poor conditions
this course has alot of potential to be a top tier course but a combination of bad fairways & lack of direction of where to go just made for a unpleasant & comfusing experience not to mention that the marshall was rude & visibly acting annoyed because i was lost while playing a round of his own.
No longer a great course
The course was my favorite to play in Palm Springs region a couple years ago but the owner ran out of money trying to develop house and the club house which have halted construction for over a year. The course conditions were bad and areas of dirt on the fairways. Need someone to buy it out and turn it around.
Beautiful course!
Bunkers galore! A beautiful course, interesting and tough at times, hit the fairways! A+
No mention of terrible course conditions
Normally when something is going on to affect course conditions it is listed, such as aerification alert. There was nothing listed on GolfNow to prepare or warn me for the horrible course conditions. The course costs like a resort course but was in worse condition than a bad minicipal course. The greens were ok, the fairways were terrible. They are re-doing hole 5 so split up hole 7 into a par 3 and a par 4. The staff was friendly and courteous, especially the cart guys. Pace of play was good because there were very few people there. Will not be going back.
In terrible shape
I’ve played this course many times over the years and have always enjoyed it. However currently the course is in such bad shape they really should shut it down until they can get it back to playable condition. It is so sad to see they great track to be in such bad shape.
Summer Heat
I’ve played Silver Rock dozens of times, in season and in summer. So if you can stand the heat then you’ll have a great time. Only draw back this week was we were the last to tee off for the day at 10:50am and the maintenance crew were trying to get out of there before we did. They were buzzing, cutting, watering right on our heels, it was annoying but at times comical. All in all Silver Rock won’t disappoint.
Course Marshall "I want to go home early"
The play was really slow for holes 1 to 6 and we had to wait for the previous group before we could tee off. Normal hole 7 was converted to different holes and our group became confused as to which green to play. We saw the green at 90 yards but golf cart was showing 263 yards. As we were trying to figure out the yardage the course Marshall comes up and tells us that we were causing slow play. We agree but tried to tell him it was really the group ahead of us. He rides off and we finish the hole. The next hole , I land in the sand and after hitting the ball and starting to rake the sand. Here comes the course Marshall and rudely tells us to hurry up that he would rake. I was so annoyed I picked up my ball and sat in the cart while the rest of my group putted out. We drove to the next hole where the group ahead of us is was just teeing off. We hear him tell them that there are three open holes ahead of them (10 to 12 ) to hurry up. Hello we told you we weren't the ones causing the slow play. For the reminder of the course, we had to wait for them except for one hole. The final insult after all our waiting, the course Marshall comes around and has an issue that we parked our cart on the path before the green as my husbands ball was short of the green and to hurry up as he wanted to go home early. I was so annoyed I quit playing the rest of the course . Totally frustrating experience. The fairways were in terrible shape even for summer conditions (one hole was closed which is why they had made normal hole 7 into two holes.). Greens were ok.
Could be
Course is not ghin rated. I don’t think this course should be offered on golf now unless it’s made clear that you can’t post score for handicap purpose.
Could be an amazing course.
Unfortunately, the golf course is going through a difficult time right now. The course has amazing potential, but the current condition of the fairways is why I have to give it such a low rating. Greens and tee boxes were in pretty good condition.
Course is in terrible shape
Terrible shape, when I booked it said the fairway overseeing was finished, but was not and in terrible shape. Houses around course went into bankruptcy and have been half finished for over a year. I play a lot of courses in the fest and would it play this one again.
Rough time of year
Round was cut into a par 70, front 9 par 5 and par 4 (I think holes 7 and 8) were turned into a par 3 and par 4. Greens were in bad condition as are most this time of year. Value made up for it, As always great asthetics at Silver Rocm.
We're sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate your patience as we work on improving the fairways. Thank you for acknowledging the good condition of our greens and tee boxes.
