SilverRock Resort
About
SilverRock Resort is the city of La Quinta's first municipal golf course. This Arnold Palmer Classic Course is the home course of the Bob Hope Classic. At 7,239 yards, it is the longest course in Palm Springs and one of the longest courses on the PGA Tour. SilverRock sits right at the base of the Santa Rosa and Coral Mountains, which provide a stunning backdrop for every hole. It is closer to the mountains than any other public golf course in the area. The rugged landscape provides rocky outcroppings and massive native bunkers to contend with throughout the course. Beautiful water features also come into play on several holes. The SilverRock layout is challenging but the widths of the fairways are fair and playable and the holes are diverse enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels.

La Quinta Gem
First time playing this track, have so say it was great. Two weeks out of overseed, I thought it was in really good shape. It was CPO, and a Saturday, but even that said, pace was bearable. The resort is at least a year out, but it will be a great option in the La Quinta area when the Montage is completed.

Better than expected
Played here two years ago and wasn’t ready for how tough this course can be. We heard it was pretty beat up from their transition and the late summer storms but found the course more than playable. Greens were a little slow and some areas in the fairways were bare but over thought it was comparable to other courses we played (Stadium and Desert Willow) and the layout is great. Long from the tips (7250) but plays very fair. Got some revenge and had a fun time.

Still Recovering
The course is still recovering from the recent storms. Some wash areas are lakes, others are muddy and unaccessible. Due to this, I lost more balls than I ever have on this course. Thought it was a little pricey for conditions & time of year.
Hello, thank you for visiting us at SilverRock Resort. We appreciate your review and feedback. We hope you join us for another round soon.
We were rained out
Unfortunately for us the course was closed when we arrived Saturday morning. The torrential rains the night before had left standing water in several of the fairways. We were able to speak with the staff and they told us they were working on getting our money refunded. Our group of four had prepaid for the round.
We asked for a recommendation on other courses to play. They were very accommodating. We’ll be back one day to play.
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing SilverRock Resort.
Poor course
Worst course I’ve ever played! Conditions worst I’ve ever seen and charged for! Never again to Silverrock!!!
Thank you for the review and comments regarding your round of golf at SilverRock. During this time of year, golf courses in the Coachella Valley go through a process called transition. This transition is the process where the cool season grass (over seeded) begins to fade out as the temperatures reach into the 100’s. As the cool season grass fades, the Bermuda grass (warm season base grass) remerges. This process of warm season grass filling in where the cool season grass fades away is called transition. At SilverRock, this transition usually begins in June and typically (depending upon weather conditions) by the end of August, the course will have completely transitioned. We recognize the turf conditions may not be prime during this time and as a result green fee rates are reduced significantly. It's important to note, the golf course is not diseased nor neglected, this is a normal process and occurs every summer. Again, thank you for taking to time to provide feedback and we hope to see you back at the Rock!
The condition of the course was embarrassing. The fairways had more bare spots than grass. The layout was amazing, but the course was dismal. Our playing partners received full refunds just by asking.

Sketchy Conditions
One of our favourites in the desert, but the construction can be a distraction these days and the course was in pretty rough shape. Several of the greens were almost dead and some had large sections grafted on. Some of the fairways were bare as well. Not sure what happened and did not ask.
We played several courses this week at the $35-$65 range and this course was high end in price and low end in experience. Hope it recovers soon!

Very rough shape
Worst course I ever played! Took son out for round to find golf course unplayable! Fairways and greens in horrible shape. Mud patch’s,dead fairways and greens. Played another local course that was 100% better and cheaper. Never again to Silverrock!

Driving up to facility you can see course is in tough condition. Staff at facility said front 9 all looks like this and back nine is a little better. Canceled at pro shop and booked elsewhere

Horrible Greens
Love the layout of the course and very scenic. But on the other hand the greens are in awe full shape and charging what they are charging is unacceptable in my opinion.

Barren fairways and terrible greens
I booked a round at Silver Rock for a group of friends that were visiting. After two days of playing beautiful, perfectly manicured courses in the surrounding area, we were in a state of disbelief as we drove past barren fairways and dead greens on our way into the course. I had not played this course since December and I was obviously not expecting such desperate conditions. Our group had to play "lift, clean, and place" because the fairways were so barren. On several of the front nine fairways there was not a patch of grass for 20 yards to place your ball. There were huge patches of dirt in the middle of the fairways with islands of ridiculous patches of sod surrounded by patches of dead grass and dirt. We also had to implement a maximum 2 putt rule on the greens as the greens were a mixture of dirt and dry dead grass. The superintendent should be fired, a phrase that I have never said in my life. Silver Rock is blaming the poor conditions to punching the course in June when the weather was too cool for the Bermuda grass to return from it's winter hibernation. OK, fine. No other golf courses that I play in the area (and I play a lot) are in this condition. Do yourself a favor and skip this course this summer. I should have asked for a refund and booked another course. I hope that the course can be saved--as does Silver Rock I'm sure.

SilverRock Golf Resort????
Horrible course conditions! At least half the greens burnt out and unputtable. Fairways are pure mud with limited green grass. Very friendly and helpful staff!! The course would be great if in good to great conditions and they had actual convenient amenities and newer carts.

Bad condition
A local told me that it was the worst condition he had ever seen. I feel like they are working on it and will get it back.

Not impressed
No mention of the course conditions when I booked on GolfNow. Had I known the condition of the course I certainly would not have paid $65 to play there

Not satisfied
The course had a terrible green condition. There were too much dead grass on the green. And the marshal was pushing us even though we were on the pace where we finish the whole round in 4 hrs. Marshall was following us many times.

Tore Up
The condition of the course was horrible, especially the greens. I'm not sure if the greens had a disease or got damaged beyond repair on most holes, but they literally had strips of sod on them and damage all over them. The fairways were basically mud. We were forced to place our balls on any somewhat dry grass we could find before hitting the next shot. They are building SilverRock into an amazing resort, so there's a lot of construction going on. It should be incredible when it's done. My suggestion is to get the course condition where people actually want to play it and they'll be fine. The layout is actually really nice and the staff is friendly. Until the course is ready, I won't recommend it to my friends.
Ok conditions…
They had a rough seeding in May due to really cold weather, you can find a better course in the area for the money at its current condition. Extreme amount of mosquitoes and horse flies on the front 9. You couldn’t set up for a shot without a bug flying into your ear or 10 on your legs. Back 9 was completely different. We teed off at 7am and 7:10am. We didn’t get a chance to eat at the grill. PLENTY of construction going on. Some of the greens were in pretty rough conditions and the fairways were soggy. I’m sure they have to over flood them because the extreme heat soaks it up in minutes.
Besides that the employees told us that info about the seeding when we checked in and apologized ahead of time. Every employee (cart girl, gentleman cleaning the clubs at the end, starter, person checking in the pro shop) were absolutely amazing.
