SilverRock Resort

About
SilverRock Resort is the city of La Quinta's first municipal golf course. This Arnold Palmer Classic Course is the home course of the Bob Hope Classic. At 7,239 yards, it is the longest course in Palm Springs and one of the longest courses on the PGA Tour. SilverRock sits right at the base of the Santa Rosa and Coral Mountains, which provide a stunning backdrop for every hole. It is closer to the mountains than any other public golf course in the area. The rugged landscape provides rocky outcroppings and massive native bunkers to contend with throughout the course. Beautiful water features also come into play on several holes. The SilverRock layout is challenging but the widths of the fairways are fair and playable and the holes are diverse enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels.

This was a great par 3! This is zoomed in so you dont quite get the percetion of the distance. A solid 175 or so, over water and well protected. Photo submitted by ThatGolfGuy on 09/26/2016

After an exhaustive reading of the rules by the starter we were off
Front 9 conditions were not great lots of areas under repair on fairways plus reseeding.
Back 9 was amazing once the front is in better shape great course.
The greens were perfect all around
It was a great day with good pace of play, bar girls was great and came by regularly. Love Palm Springs golf !!
Marshals pick on women golfers
We used to love playing this course until this last time. Fairways were in horrible shape due to extreme heat into fall, which is outside of the control of the Pro Shop, but prices could have been reduced to accommodate. The part that really bothered was this was the second time we had a marshal that kept harassing my wife and my friends' wives accusing them of slow play when they weren't playing slow at all. I had a few words with the marshal (same marshal that did it last year) and he apologized, but it put it damper on the round.
Don’t waste your money/time
The front 9 was redesigned to accommodate a failed condo development. Ruined the original Arnold Palmer design. Course condition was ROUGH. Pace was SLOW. Would not recommend.
Big Disappointment
Had golfed this course several years ago and loved it. Since then they have redesigned the course to accommodate a hotel/condo development. This is now a big eyesore as work appears to have stalled on many unfinished buildings bordered by unsightly fencing. The redesign hurt the layout and flow of the course considerably. It is not the beautiful course it used to be.
Overseeding failed terribly on the front 9. Fairways were very thin, lots of muddy patches. One fairway looked like it had been spread with gravel, trying something new they said. The course should be closed until conditions get better. They are still charging $190, way to much for its condition. I won't be back.
Pretty Course
Not worth the money. Cart path only was devastating as we were not told ahead of time. My wife wears a brace on her left knee and had problems walking as a result of the cart path only ruling. Front nine is in poor condition. We were very disappointed.
I poor shape. Cart path only
Reseeded entire course. Front nine was soggy and sparse. Back nine a little better. Did not get my money’s worth
Open too soon
So we get there and they tell us it’s cartpath only I don’t remember seeing this on GolfNow either did the other three people that I played with. Now everything I rated would probably be much higher needed about 3 to 4 more weeks to fill in the grass. The first nine holes were in real bad shape holes 10 through 12 were not good either. But the last five holes were in great shape because the shade from the mountains kept them from being too hot. My recommendation is not this course until it removes the car path only. I’m really disappointed Golf Now for not warning us.
Overpriced for what you get
It was cart path only. Not mentioned when made tee time. Front nine was a sloppy mess. Pace was slow Back nine a little better. MAY be acceptable in a few years
Course should not be open
The over seeding process on the front 9 was a total failure and is full of dirt and mud patches. I can’t understand why they opened prematurely.
Sliver Rock is a very good public course when it’s in good shape.
Front 9 fairways are in poor shape
We were warned in advance that the front nine fairways had not overseeded well (and they were certainly right about that), but were not offered a discount. Fortunately, all of the greens and the back 9 were in nice shape. We especially like the back 9. I'd pass on playing this course for another month (until mid-December) unless you get a great rate. When it's in good shape, it's a great layout.
Gorgeous course
Fantastic layout of the holes and nestled up against the mountain range. Stunning views and challenging golf. 100% will be back and would consider buying into the development once it starts up again.
Troublesome right now.
November 7 2024. They have not been able to get the new seed to take , particularly on the front 9. This was due to the heat in October. Based on these conditions, they should not be charging full price. It's not whether you can charge, but should you and the answer is absolutely not.
I would avoid this course for another 3-4 weeks.
End of session condition
Overall the course was good. pace of play was good Some patchy spots caused bad lies. Surprisingly good Bar and Grill
Silver Rock First
Was moderately disappointed with my first visit to Silver Rock. Fairways were in pretty bad shape, greens were OK, but had issues as well. No Clubhouse. Staff was great, but it's a 5 minute drive to the Driving range, 10 min drive to the clubhouse after the round and all kinds of construction going on, yet no one is working??
Very Strange place!
