SilverRock Resort
About
SilverRock Resort is the city of La Quinta's first municipal golf course. This Arnold Palmer Classic Course is the home course of the Bob Hope Classic. At 7,239 yards, it is the longest course in Palm Springs and one of the longest courses on the PGA Tour. SilverRock sits right at the base of the Santa Rosa and Coral Mountains, which provide a stunning backdrop for every hole. It is closer to the mountains than any other public golf course in the area. The rugged landscape provides rocky outcroppings and massive native bunkers to contend with throughout the course. Beautiful water features also come into play on several holes. The SilverRock layout is challenging but the widths of the fairways are fair and playable and the holes are diverse enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels.

This was a great par 3! This is zoomed in so you dont quite get the percetion of the distance. A solid 175 or so, over water and well protected. Photo submitted by ThatGolfGuy on 09/26/2016

Beautiful course!
Bunkers galore! A beautiful course, interesting and tough at times, hit the fairways! A+
No mention of terrible course conditions
Normally when something is going on to affect course conditions it is listed, such as aerification alert. There was nothing listed on GolfNow to prepare or warn me for the horrible course conditions. The course costs like a resort course but was in worse condition than a bad minicipal course. The greens were ok, the fairways were terrible. They are re-doing hole 5 so split up hole 7 into a par 3 and a par 4. The staff was friendly and courteous, especially the cart guys. Pace of play was good because there were very few people there. Will not be going back.
In terrible shape
I’ve played this course many times over the years and have always enjoyed it. However currently the course is in such bad shape they really should shut it down until they can get it back to playable condition. It is so sad to see they great track to be in such bad shape.
Summer Heat
I’ve played Silver Rock dozens of times, in season and in summer. So if you can stand the heat then you’ll have a great time. Only draw back this week was we were the last to tee off for the day at 10:50am and the maintenance crew were trying to get out of there before we did. They were buzzing, cutting, watering right on our heels, it was annoying but at times comical. All in all Silver Rock won’t disappoint.
Course Marshall "I want to go home early"
The play was really slow for holes 1 to 6 and we had to wait for the previous group before we could tee off. Normal hole 7 was converted to different holes and our group became confused as to which green to play. We saw the green at 90 yards but golf cart was showing 263 yards. As we were trying to figure out the yardage the course Marshall comes up and tells us that we were causing slow play. We agree but tried to tell him it was really the group ahead of us. He rides off and we finish the hole. The next hole , I land in the sand and after hitting the ball and starting to rake the sand. Here comes the course Marshall and rudely tells us to hurry up that he would rake. I was so annoyed I picked up my ball and sat in the cart while the rest of my group putted out. We drove to the next hole where the group ahead of us is was just teeing off. We hear him tell them that there are three open holes ahead of them (10 to 12 ) to hurry up. Hello we told you we weren't the ones causing the slow play. For the reminder of the course, we had to wait for them except for one hole. The final insult after all our waiting, the course Marshall comes around and has an issue that we parked our cart on the path before the green as my husbands ball was short of the green and to hurry up as he wanted to go home early. I was so annoyed I quit playing the rest of the course . Totally frustrating experience. The fairways were in terrible shape even for summer conditions (one hole was closed which is why they had made normal hole 7 into two holes.). Greens were ok.
Could be
Course is not ghin rated. I don’t think this course should be offered on golf now unless it’s made clear that you can’t post score for handicap purpose.
Could be an amazing course.
Unfortunately, the golf course is going through a difficult time right now. The course has amazing potential, but the current condition of the fairways is why I have to give it such a low rating. Greens and tee boxes were in pretty good condition.
Course is in terrible shape
Terrible shape, when I booked it said the fairway overseeing was finished, but was not and in terrible shape. Houses around course went into bankruptcy and have been half finished for over a year. I play a lot of courses in the fest and would it play this one again.
Rough time of year
Round was cut into a par 70, front 9 par 5 and par 4 (I think holes 7 and 8) were turned into a par 3 and par 4. Greens were in bad condition as are most this time of year. Value made up for it, As always great asthetics at Silver Rocm.
Course is bad
Course is in rough shape. The 5th hole is completely closed and they just divided the next hole into a par 4 and par3. Greens were slow and ugly. I guess it's the off-season but wasn't expecting that.
Silver Rock is Dead!!!!!
This is not the Silver Rock that I played a few years ago. GolfNow is a joke for selling these tee times and not disclosing hole closures and poor conditions. This is two in a row. I’m done with this app.
Removing from the rotation
My buddies and I used to enjoy this course but the lack of amenities, poor condition of the course and pace of play have significantly impacted its value. We will not be returning unless these issues are improved.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We apologize for the issues you’ve encountered and are actively working on improvements to enhance our course and amenities.
Removing from the rotation
My buddies and I used to love SilverRock but the poor condition, lack of amenities and value for what we paid has caused us to remove it from our regular rotation. I would not recommend for all the reasons stated above.
Fantastic Conditions
Great course,
Wonderful layout and absolutely spectacular condition!! 5 Star! Want to play again!
Disappointing Experience
It was our first time playing here and my group was very disappointed with the experience. First of all a five hour round of golf at a place like this is unheard of… our Marshall said he was trying to move the pace but he was in his cart talking to another guy not really making an effort. The group in front of us was taking selfies and taking their time well we waited on them. Plus no clubhouse or food cart girl, only sell overpriced drinks. Won’t come back here again …
We apologize for your disappointing experience, especially with the pace of play and the lack of amenities. Thank you for your feedback, and we'll work on improving these aspects.
Decent course, greens not so great
There’s unfinished construction all around so it’s a bit eerie. The course is pretty good but the greens are very dry and fast. The Marshall was pretty aggressive and kept hustling us along even though we were on pace and there was no group pushing us from the back. A beautiful day so I can’t complain.
We apologize for the unfinished construction and the condition of the greens, as well as any unwelcome pressure you felt from our Marshall. Thank you for sharing your thoughts; we truly appreciate your feedback and hope you'll see improvements on your next visit.
Almost beat the heat!
WE started at 9:50 which gave us nice temperatures through the first 12 holes. Started to go up a couple of degrees each hole after that. Hit 94 by the time we finished. Course was nice, lots of very large bunkers that need to be avoided. Conditions were very good. Greens not very fast but true. Back nine has been changed since our first visit here many years ago. Still enjoyed it but the changes made it seem less likely a place that would have held the Bob Hope Classic. The views around the course are very nice as well.
We're sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate your patience as we work on improving the fairways. Thank you for acknowledging the good condition of our greens and tee boxes.
