Balbirnie Park Golf Club serves as a prime example of a traditional parkland design with a layout that follows the natural contours of the land very closely. The gently rolling landscape lends some interest to the course but the undulations are invitingly gentle rather than being overly difficult. Long hitters will really shine on the golf course since it greatly rewards straight shots with some distance. Golfers should beware though, it is a tricky layout that punishes errant shots with thick rough and densely wooded areas. Balbirnie Park Golf Club finishes with what is arguably the most challenging hole. This par 5 requires two strokes, both blind to the hole, to lay-up before a heavily protected putting surface situated in front of the clubhouse. There are bunkers to the right and a large tree to the left as well as a burn that runs along the entire front of the green.

Weather disappointing, Balbirnie GC not so

A damp wet round of golf, however the course did not disappoint. First time playing and as a beginner I found the course somewhat challenging but for me this adds to the game and will hopefully make me a better player although I think it may take some time….

Great Autumn round

Course was in very good condition for the time of year. Was quite hard to find our balls some times due to the leaves on the ground, but that's what you get on a tree lined course in early October!

Greens were in good condition and running pretty true.

Didn't use the clubhouse so can't really comment on those facilities.

Well worth playing, and would definitely return.

Enjoyable Course

I really enjoyed the course.

For me, it was challenging and in good condition.

If being critical I think the tee areas need some love and care,

Course in very good condition, hilly with plenty of elevated greens. Drives have to be fairly accurate as lined with trees and fairway bunkers catching the average golfer. Greens had feed on them but were still fast and true, would play this course again and recommend it, value for money.

Absolutely stunning and well laid out golf course, would highly recommend a visit. Our 4 ball ranged from handicap of 10 to 24 suitable for all, greens deceptively fast and true,

We’ll be back, thanks, Graham

Great round

Ok I played well but I always enjoy playing Balbirnie.

Beautiful course with 18 very different holes - mostly challenging off the tee.

Greens were immaculate

Really Enjoyable Challenge

Great round at Balbirnie, friendly helpful professional, a course in great condition with particularly quick greens, finished off with a fantastic value bite to eat before the trip home.

For those unfamiliar with the course, it’s an undulating tree lined parkland layout set in a country estate. Not long of the forward tees but pretty tight off the tee on more than a few holes. The layout has several dogleg holes, so the ability to shape the ball is a distinct advantage. The landing area is blind on several holes requiring the use of a bell to signal the group ahead was out of range. Probably take a few rounds to get fully comfortable with the correct line of some of the tees but that’s a good excuse for a return visit.
