About

Rating 69.3

Pumpherston Golf Club, designed by Graeme Webster, offers a superior golfing challenge, including water features over the length of the 6,000-yard, par-70 golf course and R&A-standard greens.

A round at Pumpherston Golf Club begins on Paraffin Young, a 398-yard par 4 that requires a straight drive and attention on hazards surrounding the green: bunkers right, deep rough behind. Hitters unpack long games on Pentlands, the 516-yard par-5 10th, which features a narrow fairway, requiring a straight tee shot; 150 yards from the green, the fairway drops, making a tricky approach. Close the round on Iranapol, another long hole, at 505 yards and par 5, and where water guards the green, meaning that length alone won't help you.

Book a seat in the Pumpherston Golf Club's clubhouse early - and let the clubhouse caterer know about any dietary restrictions, which the staff can work with - and head up for lunch and a drink with views of the golf course.

Good course the get WI’ll test everybody level

Great value for money and the course despite a heavyweight downfall of water over the past few days seemed to hold up well, play was a little slow due to a four ball in front of us, this was interrupted by a single player who wanted to play through everyone, but it did not put us off our game and pace.

Staff were welcoming and friendly, exercising he covid regulations in the clubhouse, and a good selection of food on the menu. We’ll worth a visit .

Always worth a round

Played the course 3 or 4 times and it is always in good condition. Plenty of character throughout the course and has some lovely par 3s. The 16th with water on 3 sides is always lovely to play. Excellent value for money and would definitely recommend

Very slow play from a 4 ball ahead of several groups who had to stop and wait for some time. Met with other groups at quite a few tees waiting on them.

Watch the water

2nd time I played the course, last time was 15 months ago.

Wide variety of holes, with doglegs both left and right.

Absolute brilliant holes on this course, namely 2nd, 13th and 16th.

Course was in excellent condition, fairways had plenty grass, greens run true and rough was playable.

The water made you positional play these holes.

A well laid out course that is a must to play, I will certainly be back.

Clubhouse facilities is fantastic ( although, this time I didn’t use them)

As I was playing on my own, I caught up with 3 groups of players, which all immediately invited me to play through, the last I declined as I was enjoying the course so much. Each group very pleasant and welcoming.

I will play this again and share it with friends to let them enjoy an excellent course.

Swamp

I played pumpherston today and the course should have been closed, but because of refund policy we did not want to lose our money, the green was flooded on first hole, it was shocking that it was not shut. They are quiet clearly leaving it open to get the money. So no refunds. Also coming off course member of staff asked how it was, sorry but you should not be asking me but you should be out looking at the course yourself. Disgraceful!!!!

Great value

We went here with not particularly high expectations but came away saying that you couldn’t find much better anywhere at the price we paid.

The clubhouse was shut due to covid unfortunately but the young guy in the pro shop was chatty and helpful.

The only thing we might say is that this course could be very wet quite quickly in periods of rain.

If two guys’ who didn’t come with much or any expectations both go away saying they’d definitely come back easily then there must be sonething worthwhile going on.

A great golf now deal !!!!

2nd game here in 11 years

Course has matured fantastically since I last played here. Greens were very true and a great pace considering the recent lockdown. Unfortunately, no clubhouse facilities open yet, but where I may not have played the course in 11 years, I have in the past hired a room there to deliver training, and used their catering. Staff friendly, and great clubhouse.

The course is not for big hitters on the most part as there are some great twists to the fairways and hazards on approaches to greens.
