Pumpherston Golf Club
About
Pumpherston Golf Club, designed by Graeme Webster, offers a superior golfing challenge, including water features over the length of the 6,000-yard, par-70 golf course and R&A-standard greens.
A round at Pumpherston Golf Club begins on Paraffin Young, a 398-yard par 4 that requires a straight drive and attention on hazards surrounding the green: bunkers right, deep rough behind. Hitters unpack long games on Pentlands, the 516-yard par-5 10th, which features a narrow fairway, requiring a straight tee shot; 150 yards from the green, the fairway drops, making a tricky approach. Close the round on Iranapol, another long hole, at 505 yards and par 5, and where water guards the green, meaning that length alone won't help you.
Book a seat in the Pumpherston Golf Club's clubhouse early - and let the clubhouse caterer know about any dietary restrictions, which the staff can work with - and head up for lunch and a drink with views of the golf course.

Great value
We went here with not particularly high expectations but came away saying that you couldn’t find much better anywhere at the price we paid.
The clubhouse was shut due to covid unfortunately but the young guy in the pro shop was chatty and helpful.
The only thing we might say is that this course could be very wet quite quickly in periods of rain.
If two guys’ who didn’t come with much or any expectations both go away saying they’d definitely come back easily then there must be sonething worthwhile going on.
A great golf now deal !!!!
Lovely scenic course
A great course nestled in the central Scottish countryside. In great condition with some wonderful tricky holes.
Would thoroughly recommend.
2nd game here in 11 years
Course has matured fantastically since I last played here. Greens were very true and a great pace considering the recent lockdown. Unfortunately, no clubhouse facilities open yet, but where I may not have played the course in 11 years, I have in the past hired a room there to deliver training, and used their catering. Staff friendly, and great clubhouse.
The course is not for big hitters on the most part as there are some great twists to the fairways and hazards on approaches to greens.
Great feature hole.
Very enjoyable round, slightly wet conditions. Very warm welcome from shop staff and great friendly service from clubhouse staff.
Good day out
Great course. Greens were fantastic. Only thing that let the course condition down was the fairways could of been doing with a cut, they were a tad on the long side. Bar meals were excellent. Overall brilliant course and would recommend it.
Pumpherston winter
The ground was quite wet and soggy. The layout is terrific but greens were on winter cuts. Was a bit disappointed overall.
Well worth a visit
Great on, nobody in front or behind, weather held up til the 17 th
Soaking wet
So much for the golf now policy if its raining.
Greens covered in water
Great Course
Great course with some lovely holes. Superb condition and there was a lot of rain overnight. Greens were fast and true, immaculate actually. Staff and food were excellent and very welcoming. Highly recommended
Pumpherston in windy conditions
Thought the greens were a bit in different in speed, would have helped with yardage markers at some of the dog legs as driver was not the club to use. Top tip ,drive up the 1st on the 18th , this makes the hole and easy par 5 and keeps the ball away from the water hazard
Great Summer
Although this has been a fantastic summer for golf i5 has taken it’s toll on most courses, Pumpherston included. However the greens are still holding up well. I like the layout of the course with a good variety of holes. Excellent club house with friendly helpful staff. Recommend you try it.
worth booking for an outing
Third time I have played this course was in good condition for time of year
Must play
The staff were very helpful and pleasant the course was in good condition apart from a few greens
Still unsure of this one
Ok. I need to be fair and point out that the day before we played this course, there had been a down pour of rain and it was heavy. This course already had a reputation of being like a sponge and it certainly lived up to those expectations. The course was boggy and a huge amount of surface water in pockets just about on every hole. The majority of bunkers were filled (some completely) with water. They really do have an issue with the lack of natural drainage at this course. I can see now why in the off season, you play from fairway mats. The greens had just been spiked which was unfortunate but something to be put up with; their pace was good and they looked well maitained. The professional was friendly enough and the shop looked well stocked. We did not go into the club house but certainly, it is known as a decent venue so I'd expect it to be good. The course layout was not overly impressive although a few stand out holes. Most though seem to lack a bit of character and I doubt would be that challanging for a decent golfer (not me). Overall, I'm undecided about this course and feel like I should give it another go in better conditions. Was thinking about joining next year but need to reconsider given the possibility of water-logged conditions for parts of the year.
