Rating 69.3

Pumpherston Golf Club, designed by Graeme Webster, offers a superior golfing challenge, including water features over the length of the 6,000-yard, par-70 golf course and R&A-standard greens.

A round at Pumpherston Golf Club begins on Paraffin Young, a 398-yard par 4 that requires a straight drive and attention on hazards surrounding the green: bunkers right, deep rough behind. Hitters unpack long games on Pentlands, the 516-yard par-5 10th, which features a narrow fairway, requiring a straight tee shot; 150 yards from the green, the fairway drops, making a tricky approach. Close the round on Iranapol, another long hole, at 505 yards and par 5, and where water guards the green, meaning that length alone won't help you.

Book a seat in the Pumpherston Golf Club's clubhouse early - and let the clubhouse caterer know about any dietary restrictions, which the staff can work with - and head up for lunch and a drink with views of the golf course.

Great course - poor drainage

Great course, lots of challenging holes and some great short ones that test your shots.

The course was very wet in places (expected this time of year).

Would play again for sure.

We felt we got a bargain at 14 quid for the round!

Great value

Unfortunately the weather that day was very windy and the fairways were very wet .

Used mats from the fairway which helped. Greens were pretty good tho .

Staff at the course were friendly and helpful. Food was good too .

Very good value for money all round .

Will definitely go back in the summer .

Perfect weather
Walked

great course

At 5700 of the yellow tees it's not the longest course that you'll lay but I love the layout. Some nice doglegs through the trees, long and short par 3s and plenty of water to trip you up if you're a bit wayward. There had been a lot of rain recently so the course was a bit squelchy under foot but that didn't take a way from the enjoyment of this great wee course

Great condition

Considering the time of year and recent weather the course was in great condition. Greens were very good. A few tee boxes were from mats as expected but didn't bother us.

Great price at £16 each. We will be back again.

Excellent course

We really enjoyed our round at Pumpherston- the course was on full greens in February which is a rarity for this time of year! The Pro Shop was well socked and the lad behind the counter was very helpful. Excellent pace of play for a Saturday afternoon- quite a few challenging and picturesque holes- we'll definitely be back in the summer.
