Gifford Golf Club
About
Golf World has called Gifford Golf Club "the best nine holes in Scotland." The East Lothian village of Gifford, half-an-hour from Edinburgh, features this parkland golf course with a view of the Lammermuir Hills. The course is suitable for new-to-the-game golfers as well as those with low handicaps.
Gifford Golf Club management recommends a maximum hour and 45 minutes to play nine holes - a 2,957-yard, par-35 run out, and 3,093-yard par-36 coming back. The par-5 ninth hole is a 473-yard doozie.
Course trivia: Gifford Golf Club began in 1904, when golfing Lord Tweeddale leased 50 acres of his family estate for a 5 pounds a year - "for the whole right and privilege of playing golf."

It's an absolute MUST, honest.
Before i go off on a rant about golf pricing in East Lothian, just play this course. It's a 'must play' on your tour. Yes, it's 9 holes, played as 18, but don't let that put you off. The back 9 is set up different to the front 9. Manicured fairways, above average green speed. Plenty of undulations on the greens, and pars/birdies are mitigated by well-positioned hillocks and bunkers. Clubhouse is tiny, but buzzing, full of genuine golfers, and a nice bloke called Andy who'll make your breakfast.
As for golf pricing on Scotland's 'golf coast', too many courses now pricing for the deep pockets of international golf tourists who pay for bragging rights. As a Scot who knows the golf in this area well, many of these courses are not worth the 3-figure price. Gifford, on the other hand, is huge value for money. Play it!

Tidy Course with Excellent Greens
Played Gifford as looking for a quieter course in East Lothian prior to watching last day of Troon Open on TV. Generous fairways and immaculate greens made our threeball a very enjoyable event on a Sunday morning.
Hidden gem
Great wee course, Great value for money considering what's around it, greens some of the best I've played this year very neat and tidy course Great credit goes to the greenstaff

Great course
Well worth a visit and course in immaculate condition
Excellent value for money
More visible yardage markers would be helpful (they do exist but can be tricky to see sometimes) but not really an issue - just a small suggestion to make the course even better. 9 hole course with different tee boxes. Awesome
Great wee course
Lovely little course, friendly staff and nice little clubhouse. Would definitely come back
Best golf experience.
9 of us from Winterfield golf club played on Sat. What a great experience .Staff were brilliant (Andy & his mum). Hospitality second to none. The course was in fabulous condition even after all the rain. A great deal. We will be back.
Gifford golf course
Staff food facilities brilliant cleanliness brilliant course great condition
Great pace of golf
We had a man recovering from a stroke playing with us so we were probably slower than we should off been but it was not a problem to the couple behind us. We offered to let them through but declined
Very well presented course played 18 holes stopped halfway for refreshment and not harassed to start the back nine. All though plenty of trees/bushes you don’t feel pended in. I look forward to playing in the future.
Teed of 5:10 . No waiting on any tees . Friendly helpful staff . Would recommend. Good price for the course .
Hidden Gem
This course is an absolute hidden gem, with so many big name courses in the area it would be easy to overlook Gifford. The course is in immaculate condition with challenging greens that put the big name courses to shame. You are made to feel extremely welcome and the whole place has a lovely atmosphere where golfers of any level can enjoy their round.
