The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.

This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.

The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.

The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Beautiful Course, cost more than it should

The layout is great but for$150 it should be in much better shape and the greens should be faster. The people that work there are friendly helpful and the food is good.

Good Course, pricey

Like playing this course when in town but it is a bit pricey. If you reserve after 2pm they give you free range balls, otherwise you pay for them. The course was not lush & green but they have had a cold winter & not much rain. Greens are challenging.

Great course conditions, great layout/design, great location, nice members. Lots of hidden water on the course though, so be sure to check the map on the cart before picking your shot!

Outstanding! We will be back.

A 10 for us! Challenging but without the Pete Dye intensity that is just NOT a good fit for PA golfers coming from weeks of VERY COLD weather. Trackman on range for artificial tees. Staff could not have been more helpful and was great to work with. Fast challenging greens with grain and wind, but consistent. Next to an airport so small jet take offs a highlight of the hour- sans any birdies. Island green, fast play, a few alligators... we were very happy with our 3 rounds. Eric & Leo

Course has a cool layout but conditions were awful. Nowhere near the conditions to be charging $150, this is more like a $60-$80 course at best. The greens were covered in sand with ZERO mention of that from the pro shop who told me the course is in great conditions. It felt like I was putting on the beach.

Good Course

Should you play the course if you’re in the area? (Yes)

Is the price worth it if you can get the resident price? (Yes) If not, it’s not really worth it, but that’s just me. I’ve played some great courses throughout Florida, and this one is okay. Would I play it again? (Yes) It’s a fun course with some character, however, would ask management to please get some cart girls out on the course. Tough not having any water stations nor cart girls!! Overall 3.75 out of 5 stars.

Overpriced

As a twosome, we were frustrated by the pace which likely was not slower than a 4 hr 15 min round. Fairways are showing signs of heavy winter play. $20 for a bag of range balls is ridiculous as is the green fee we paid through GN. It’s island golf, but still too much. Not again.

Winter golf

The course was in good shape for the winter weather.

Watch for the alligator on 3 tee and 7 green..

Enjoyed the TPC type island 17th green.

I was disappointed by no water fountain in the pro shop.

Otherwise it is a great course to play on the island.

Friendly check in and starter…. It ends there

Almost a 5 hour round….sooooo slow… the persons that checked me in and the starter were very friendly. U fortunately, I was paired with a couple members. After our cordial introductions, they acted like I wasnt there and constanly whispering to each other. Then the cart girl, came across her 3 times. She was very friendly to the members. But literally said nothing to me nor looked at ne and drove off. I guess I didnt need anything. Course conditions were below fair. The fairways were so short, you could have used a putter. Very difficult to get any lift on the ball. Greens were in fair condition but someone in the group ahead of us had steel spikes and left their calling card all over the greens. Tuffs of grass, pulled up turf and holes. Glad I didnt pay the $150+ pricing show on this app.
