The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.

This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.

The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.

The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Good Experience

Generally very friendly staff and good pace of play. Course marshals come by regularly to check pace and offer ice cold towels on steamy days. Very nice touch. Greens are slower than they should be for a course like this, but fun layout.

Fun track with friendly staff

My husband and I played here twice in one week during a visit to family. We enjoyed the golf, challenging but with several wide open fairways. The rough wasn't too deep, and bunkers were in good shape. We were most impressed by the staff! The starters were friendly and helpful, and on the 17th we enjoyed crossing paths with Greg who was out delivering ice cold towels - perfect! The only surprise was the cost of the range balls - $30 for a bag of 35-40 ball! But the range has Trackman available, so that explains the cost. Just something to beware of.

Solid Course

Definitely a fun course to play while on vacation. Greens and fairways have been verticut but it didn’t affect the conditions. The greens still rolled true. The layout was good and everyone was very nice. Not sure it’s quite worth $189, so glad we got it on a hot deal.

Amelia River Club

Two us were in the area for several days and looked around for a golf course to play while we were on Amelia Island. I booked the course on GolfNow and was looking forward to play there and we had a good time and enjoyed the course. The greens were in good shape and ran true(could have been cut shorter) the fairways were ok and had been groove cut so we just allowed moving the ball to full grass pieces and out of the grooves. Pace of play felt kind of slow but we were a twosome and never went more that 6 minutes behind pace. The driving range was expensive because each bay had a trackman to record and view your shot shapes and speed, 30$ for about 40 balls. Staff was friendly and helpful for everything. We had a good time.

The staff is always friendly and helpful. On a hot FL day, was nice to be handed a cold towel on first tee. The course is in great shape and always look forward to the next round.

Favorite golf course on the Island.

Amelia River has notably improved the facility over the past few years. As a non member and part time resident on the Island, I appreciate having the ability to make tee times. The only complaint is a shag bag is now $30 and tee time prices are slowly rising. Otherwise staff and golf course is great.

Great Place to Play in North FL

This was my second time playing here.

This place has a lot of good things going for it. Normally over $100 however, with my golf pass membership I was able to get a tee time for under $40. For the value it was a great value.

The pro shop staff was incredibly nice and helpful. They have a range with Trackman built into each bay so you can get your yardages, ball speed, spin and other numbers for each shot. However it is an additional $30 to hit balls on the range. Basically you’re paying to warm up at TopGolf…cool, but in my opinion, not worth $30 if you have already paid for a round of golf. If I was just looking to get some work in on the range it would be great.

The course was in good shape with the exception of a couple of tee boxes. The greens were in good shape, but were really soft and slow. But they rolled great and were true. Just have to get used to hitting chips and putts much harder than you are comfortable hitting them.

I would recommend getting out to Amelia River if you’re in the North FL / South GA area. It’s a really nice golf course with lots of compelling features and amenities — but I would also encourage you to look for a deal to save yourself some money.

Get out, hit em straight and go low! Enjoy your round!
