About
The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.
This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,878 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.
The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.
The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Decent Course
They had needled the greens this past week so I may play again once they’ve recovered/mowed. The question is - is this course worth $130? Probably not. 8-min tee times cause a lot of backup. Fairways are in good shape and there are some great holes coupled with some throwaway holes. It’s just doesn’t give the vibe of a +$100 course. I was surprised after reading a lot of the reviews. It’s worth the few extra bucks to play Oak Marsh

Once again the staff were wonderful to interact with and the course is in better shape than the last time I played. Really enjoyable course.

Should be less expensive.
Very nice course. Greens very large and in good shape. I wouldn’t come back for the $105 it cost. Other courses are just as good and for less money. But, they have a captive audience.

Even with all the rain,, greens were in great shape and only some low spots in fairways retained water. Great course and layout and staff is friendly. Only thing that keeps our group from routinely playing here is the higher greens fees than other nice courses within a 30 minute ride

Great course!!! Not friendly to walkers though.
First off, I love this golf course. If you're in the area, it's a must play. Usually in great condition, good pace of play. However, it is a membership course and they don't have an issue letting you know you are their guest. I like to walk on occasion and can keep up with any group I'm paired with whether their walking or riding. In the past I've played at 1pm with some of the members, and it's never been an issue whether I'm a member or not. However on my last visit I was informed that to keep the optics up, I wasn't allowed to walk until after 3pm. No worries, I guess when I walk I'll find a more flexible course. The easy fix would be to just become a member, but unfortunately as a Navy Veteran I'm not fortunate enough to be in position to do that. Great course again, just wish more courses would not only allow but encourage walking.

Excellent course, highly recommend
My son and I played this course for the first time. We had heard good things about it and were very pleased. Good practice area. The tee boxes and fairways were in excellent condition and the greens were super for a public course. The course is tight and has a lot of water in play so it's a challenging layout for any level of golfer.
The pace of play for a Sunday morning was a little slow and we never saw a ranger so I did mention that but overall we loved the course and will definitely be going back.
