The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.

This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.

The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.

The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Another wonderful round

We come to Amelia Island twice a year and Amelia River is always on our list of courses to play. It was in great shape as usual. Pace of play was good and the staff could not be more welcoming.

Fantastic Greens

Most of the course is in excellent condition. A couple of tees could use some improvement but fairways are in good shape and the greens were great. Smooth, fast & true. Friendly staff & a nice outdoor patio for drinks after your round. Only ding I would put on the course is range balls are not included in the fairly high greens fee and the only purchase option is a too large bag of balls for $16. Should at least have a smaller bag with half as many balls for $8 for pre-round warm up. Few players will hit that many balls before a round.

Great course and members

Tee boxes weren’t cut from over seeding. Fairways and greens were in good condition. Greens a little slower than usual but rolled true. Members and staff were inviting and friendly. Enjoyed the day and course.

Enjoyable Round

The Amelia River Club was a pleasant experience. The staff was welcoming, the course was in good condition, the layout had enough challenge, but still playable. I was paired with 3 others who were enjoyable to play with. The only downside is we were backed up by the group(s) in front of us which made us roughly 25 mins off pace. I would go back.

Disappointed

A lot of hype over this course. Course was stacked up, staff was arrogant, and tee boxes were sketchy (the ones that were open for use, many were closed due to sowing winter rye). Very noisy airport next door with folks doing touch and go training flights. Much better courses for less money nearby.

Great Course

This was a really great course and an amazing value for the course you get to play. The course has multiple personalities. One hole you have a decent amount of room for error and the next you are deciding which club is the best bang for distance and accuracy. Hole 14 temps you to go for the green. But there is only about 40 yards of safe landing area. Long you are in the woods, short and your ball drowns. I was lucky to have my 3 wood stick the green with about a foot to spare.

The staff is very friendly.

Go play this gem.
