Crow Wood
Overall abs excellent Course which represents good value for money. Easy to get to from central Glasgow and got around in about 3 and a half hours. Fairways were excellent and whilst the Greens were good there were quite a lot of pitch marks which folk hadn’t repaired. Overall an excellent Course and thoroughly enjoyed playing it.
Crowwood - Outstanding
First impressions on the drive into the club house was outstanding. Stunning place set in well established grounds. The young man in the pro-shop was extremely friendly, informative and was an exceptional ambassador for the club.
The course was well established, picturesque and played supremely well. Greens were challenging and the whole layout of the course was really enjoyable.
As you can tell, the group I was with had a fantastic round at Crow Wood and we will be back. I would also encourage anyone nearby to give it a true
Enjoyed it
Course was in good order and got a good weather day. Greens were peppered with pitch marks and slow but good variety of holes.
Greens
The majority of the greens are diseased and in terrible condition.
Improvement on last time I played
I have played Crow Wood a few times now and each time have found it quite boggy and wet. But it has been at least 18 months since I have played here and felt there was a big improvement on the condition of the course particularly given how much rain we have had recently. Course is set up well with some stunning views of the Campsies that if you admire to much will distract from your golf.
Great venue
Yes loved playing the course
Would recommend and play again
Crow Wood
Excellent Course with an interesting variety of holes which are a good challenge for the average golfer. Overall the fairways and greens were on excellent condition. Undulating Course with no real hills and would definitely play again.
Good layout, poor condition
Not a bad layout with some interesting holes, but the condition was very poor. The greens are full of deep patches, even for mid-April they were shocking. I can't see those greens recovering any time soon.
The lie on the fairways is also a lottery, extremely bumpy and muddy.
For £18 it's fine for a hit, but don't expect much.
Decent Round
I like this course, and it's not Crow Wood's fault that it is the rainy season up here with boggy conditions. I also understand and agree with the fairway protection. My only complaint is the charge. I got a deal for 21 quid, down from the usual 25. Too much when deals for other similar courses in the area are around 14. Still, a good course, but think I'll wait for Spring.
November
For the time of year the course was in good condition playing of mats or just moving to the side. Greens were a bit bumpy but again due to time of year .
The course was a bit soaked in parts but that was to be expected. Not permitted to play off of the fairways but only told this on arrival. Lots of old guys playing 3 and 4 balls so held up.
Decent course in summer???
As expected for time of year course was sodden, paths muddy, greens spiked and sanded. Not for the first time this year advised on arrival several winter greens on and no fairway play (can Golf Now please get updates from courses and state this before taking our money!)
Quite good layout and mix of long/short holes, worth a tenner I suppose for a hit about but having always wanted a game here I wouldn't hurry back until summer...and then probably wouldn't pay the prices they charge.
