First time playing course

First time playing the course and was surprised with the whole course. Lots of different types of holes but a good course in general.

It was windy when I played which made it a bit more difficult as some high tee boxes made the shot even more challenging.

Overall would recommend the course, good condition and worth a visit. I will play it again for sure.

Phenomenal course

First time playing Hayston Golf Course and I must say the layout is incredible. Every hole has great variety and there’s a challenge to be found for every golfer. Even in a very heavy downpour for the front 9 the greens were quick and posed a true challenge even for veterans of the game. The pro in the shop was very accommodating to us, suggesting taking some time before our tee time in the clubhouse until the rain eased off but we played on being used to the Scottish weather. Even the par threes at Hayston prove difficult with a variety of inclines making club choice a make or break decision for a good round. I’d absolutely recommend Hayston and I’m seriously considering getting myself a membership there.

Hidden Gem

A very welcoming welcome from the club pro started my visit off well. Good insight into the course and conditions. Practice green were rapid just like the greens out on the course. An absolute pleasure to this gem and it's a good test for your entire golfing game. A must visit course and one I will be returning back to. Excellent condition.

Outstanding!

I came from Miami and have wanted to play a Scottish parkland course. While staying in Glasgow, I found this course online, and it seemed close to the city to make transportation viable, so I booked it.

Mathew and Chris are outstanding, and set me up with a wonderful set of clubs to use for the round.

Coming from Miami, where everything is flat, this course proved a delightful change, with elevation changes on most every hole. Not used to this, my legs were tired and complaining at the end of the round, and Chris in the proshop pointed me in the direction of the lounge where the barman served me a much appreciated pint of Guiness.

In all, I found the course to be very fair and straightforward. The fairways were lush, and the greens easy to read and put.

In all, I had a tremendous experience and felt welcome by the staff. Kudos, and thumbs up!

Winter greens

Pro Shop closed on arrival. 4 winter greens in play and the 28th was closed for groundworks. Would have been good to know this when booking.

Poor

I was looking forward to playing this course as I hadn't played it for a few years.

Course layout is great but the condition of the course was awful. I understand it was a wet winter but the course was genuinely unplayable at times. Poor drainage and every hole looked like the grass had been relayed. Some parts looked like a cow field.

The course condition alongside slow play in front led to me walking off after the front 9.

Very disappointing more the money paid.

Hayston GC

Tee boxes, fairways, greens and bunkers were all superb condition for October. A very warm welcome from the club pro on arrival with some handy course management tips. A nice mix of holes with 5 par 3’s and 3 par 5’s. A couple of holes cross over fairways but adds to the fun. Well worth a visit and the green fee was cheap at £25.
