Well worth a try

Some greens still a bit rough but overall, good. Worth a visit to check out some of the holes which are a sight to behold in terms of layout and variety of challenges.

If this course shuts, it will be a shame. Definitely needs some investment from West Dunbartonshire Council / others on facilities.

Dalmuir GC

Really enjoyed playing the course,as I always do, considering it was heavy rain during the morning.

Great value for money. Course held up well.

Mary in the pro shop couldn't be more helpful.

It would be a tragedy if this course closes.

A note to West dumbartonshire council....you must keep this open !!

Bring your hiking boots.

Staff were friendly so started off good. We were given a scorecard with no course layout, making navigating very difficult. There is a lack of signage meaning if it’s your first time you’re going to struggle to navigate in a timely manner, layout isn’t self explanatory, you have to cross a few fairways to get to your next hole on a number of occasions.

Course was in decent enough condition for a municipal course at £18/round. Lots of leaves at this time of year which meant if you didn’t hit the fairway you were losing your ball every time. It was apparent the fairways had been cleared of leaves recently but the wind had obviously blown more into a couple of the greens and fairways and the rough just off the fairways had obviously not been cleared.

Some of the holes are borderline ridiculous. If you’re not fit you’re going to struggle on the back 9, the 13th being the steepest. My trolley was above my head while I was pushing it. A petrol powered golf cart wouldn’t make it to the green of the 18th.

I won’t be playing here again, it’s too much effort for a 5000 yard course. I’ve played a number of 7000 yarders that didn’t involve as much hill walking.

Great value

Great course , great variety of holes , and great value.

There are some wonderful picturesque holes and the back nine is more challenging.

Blind greens , a dogleg par three , and killer uphill par fours.

My favourite holes are 12 & 14 par threes over a 70 foot ravine.

Staff are excellent.

Value for money

As public courses go this one is pretty good. Not the longest or most challenging but great value for money and enjoyed it each time I've played.

Bring Oxygen

Lovely course but the back 9 in particular were a physical challenge with “heart attack hill” on the 13th and a couple of others testing your fitness. Missed two holes 14/15 somehow - poor signage?? Or maybe we were just too busy catching our breath I’m not sure. Some great condition large greens and a cracker par 3 over the burn from high up too! All in all a great value course - just mind bring the oxygen!!

Great cheap course

Played this course Saturday, despite recent heavy rain it was still in really good condition. Taking into consideration the cost (£18) and the fact it's a council run municipal course it was really good value and in really good condition. If you want pefect greens, raked bunkers and immaculate fairways then you need to go and pay the money for a private course but I played with son who is a beginner and it was perfect for him to learn golf etc without having the usual looking down on scuffed shots. Would highly recommend for a cheap, hassle free round especially for beginners.

Overall great course

Great course the weather didn’t help much for the condition not the club it’s self to blame.

Would highly recommend using a carry bag as some of the holes can be tough for a cart

Unenjoyable experience

Totally understand this is a municipal course so let's start with tue positives.

Members very welcoming. Let myself and my friend te off first and spent a few minutes explaining the rather interesting layout so we wouldn't get lost. Nobody In front of us the whole round, on medal morning which was good.

Lady in office was perfectly nice, let me use the staff toilet but the whole place stunk of stale cigarettes.and was clearly.being smoked in that morning. No amenities despite the sign on the door saying fully stocked. Not even a bottle of water for sale. Nothing. Which is fine as we came prepared.

Greens actually very healthy and aesthetically pleasing, some nice levels and undulating areas, by far the best part of the course and actually a credit to the greens staff taking care of the course.

Some quirky holes. Par 3 where you cannot see the green as its a dog leg around trees so you have to hit over the trees. An 80 yard par 3 off the side of a cliff. Interesting walks. I feel for the older ayers here as fall risk is high.

Flags are waist height plastic poles. Imagine asking a 8 year old to make a a flag and then you have an idea what they're like. Again no biggy apart from the fact you can't see some of them as they are so short as the greens are often way up a ridiculous hill and poles no longer to accomidate this. I imagine they've had a few stolen so this is a means to an end. Understandable I guess.

No rakes. Again it's a public course and will.get stolen, so fine, but the bunkers were more or less unplayable, thankfully never hit one but had I done so I wouldnt not have risked a wedge.

The layout was interesting to say the least. Several steep climbs to come back on yourself and walk the same Way to another tee. Some holes ridiculous to be honest. One par 4 up the face of K2, others an iron to a reachable par 4 off the tee. Some fairways are actually impossible to hit as they are sideways on a hill. 4 or 5 minute walk to a few greens or tees from A to B.

It was OK for a little knock about but for a friendly match was very u enjoyable, particularly if you are used to standard conditions and or facilities.

Car park tiny also which shoukd be kept in mind.

They say you get what you pay for but at £20 per person I honestly don't think we did.

Dalmuir Diamond

A real gem of a course.

Outstanding value.

For a municipal course it is in remarkably good condition.

A good mix of challenging and easier holes.

Quite hilly in places and felt longer than the 5,000 odd yards quoted.

I'll definitely be back and have no hesitation in recommending to others.
