Great Course And Quick Play
Great course for intermediate golfers. Challenging dog legs. Greens were punched about a week ago so we’re not in great shape
I Will Be Back
Good course but does not drain well so the fairways were soggy and had puddles. Also , the greens were just sanded. But overall it was a good course and I want to play it again.
Great Place to Play
2nd time in 2 weeks playing here. With all of the rain the course was soaked and had ponds in the fairways. Greens were being aerated so that stunk. But the course is great. Wide open fairways, and tough greens. Well taken care of. Again the only problem is pace of play. The marshal was out making sure everyone stayed on the cart path since it was wet out, but they never tell anyone to pick up the pace. That really is the only complaint.
Great, tough course
Course was very nice. Friendly staff. Long par 3's. Only negative is slow play. Great place means busy place, but you have a ranger on the course for a reason.
Early Morning Round
Played El Dorado on a cold February morning. It rained a few days ago but the course drained pretty well overall. Greens and fairways were pretty good but grass was just being cut as they probably could not any other time during the week because of the rain. Pace was good and staff were friendly.
Got it on a bad day
Played here before with no problems but this round was a disaster. It's obvious that the course does not drain well. It was cart path only which was fine. But there were mini lakes in the middle of many fairway. Slogging out from the cart path to your balls was tricky. But the biggest problem was the tournament they sent out in the morning that held everyone up. Not quite sure why they don't have more Marshalls out there under those kind of conditions.
Wet conditions after rains. Greens are good.
there is a lot of standing water in the fairways and in the rough. Greens are in Fairly good shape they do roll true. Not worth normal rates right now.
Opened for play on a rainy day, and I was roped into playing because GolfNow would not refund my money. The course was literally underwater. There wasn't a single hole (or shot) that was playable without taking relief from "casual water". Even then, the course was so wet, you could not complete relief without ending up the rough. The best you could do was fish your ball out of all the standing water in the fairways.. The course should not have been open. But the greedy operators, American Golf, shoved people out there anyway, and mashalls literally forced us to keep the cart on the paths. The conditions were so terrible, we quit after 9 holes. Why can't I give this course a "no star" rating? I didn't even desire one star. It was below "Poor". It was "Horrible".
Walking Rate
Unfortunately, we had to pay the riding rate even though we walk. Please change this policy or add a walking rate to the website.
Best Track in Long Beach
El.Dorado is definitely the better of the public courses in LBC. The greens were in good conditions, some had some dead and bare spots but well kept otherwise.
Tee boxes were in good condition, bunkers were looking great and the fairways were typically patchy So Cal.Muni.
A better than average public course
Congrats on some golfers who actually take the time to repair their divots on the greens... a lost art... Does anybody believe in range marshals anymore?
The
We played on a holiday, the Friday after a Thanksgiving, and found Eldo to continue to suffer from slow pace of play and delayed start times. The course was not as well maintained as the last two times we played there, with bare spots on the fairways, sandy borders on several greens, lumpy putting surfaces on half the holes.
Sardine Can Golf
Played a SIX HOUR round today. They pack the course like sardines and we waited over 20min on every par 3 due to all the 5 somes. Started 30 min late too. Horrible course management.
Golf now tee times
Ariived on time for our 812 tee time. Starter did not have a tee time in system we had to wait til after 9 to go out. This should be corrected starter stated it was happening all morning.
Aeration
It would have been nice if someone at the course or with GolfNow, would have notified us that aeration just started. It would have also been nice if we didn’t have to pay the standard rate on a course that is getting aerated. It also would make more sense to aerate the greens from front to back or vise versa not from left to right.
Slow Play - No Marshals - Great Burgers
The good news...the BBQ and food service team always do a great job. The bad news...It took 3 hours to play the front nine. Had a 1230ish tee time but teed off 20 minuets late. There seemed to be a lot of fivesomes on the course. We did not see any marshals so we were completely frustrated at the turn. I talked to the starter and we ended up playing the front nine again in 1.5 hours. I like the course and would recommend it for the right time slot but have a difficult time coming back when management cannot run the show. Public golf courses need to police their courses and push people along. Do the managers of these courses read these reviews? Other reviews recently are similar.
Greens punched. No warning
Unfortunately there was no warning as to the hole punched greens. I would not have booked here had i known.
Poor pace of play
Extremely poor pace of play. Ruined the mood. Waited 20 minutes after tee time to tee up. The entire day consisted of waiting for groups ahead with no marshal in sight. Front 9 was 2 hours and 30 minutes. Did not complete back 9 and it amounted to 5 hours leaving early. I would not recommend this course for what you pay for.
