Love the course

It's probably my 4th time playing at Douglaston. I like the course but.... I've notice that people play too fast and that it's probably related with the numerous unrepared marks on the greens. I ofter repair 2 or 3 any time i get on the green. Trash cans should be closed, animals keep eating the garbage and leaving the place a mess. And i find a lot of garbage around the course, but this is not a problem from who manages the course but from society. I've been visiting several places around Scotland and the amount of garbage people leave behind is unbelievably sad.

Dougalston golf course sad end??

First time playing dougalston golf course really enjoyed it good set up greens where nice and fast all round great course. Was actually contemplating joining it spoke to memeber of staff about monthly payments and so on then the member of staff said the course maybe getting cut from an 18 hole course to a 9 hole course to sell land off for housing development. Would be such a shame for this to happen to a really nice golf course. Fingers crossed it doesnt.

Good challenge for all players

Course was enjoyable to play with a good mixture of holes to challenge players of all abilities. The downside was the walking between finishing a hole and the next tee and the Courses general wetness underfoot. That said, staff were friendly and we all enjoyed playing the course for the first time. Will hopefully be back to play again.

Pleasantly surprised

First time I’ve played the course in about 20 years and pleasantly surprised with the ‘new’ layout and overall course condition, particularly given the heavy rain in the previous week.

I won’t leave it so long to play again.

Great course, friendly staff

Nice course layout, bit of a journey between some of the tree's but nothing to crazy. Course has a good mix of difficulty, so good option if you are looking for a challenge.

Staff were fantastic and really helpful

Good course and great value. Just avoid after rain

Great course, with a good layout and challenging with its requirement to keep it in play on the tight holes. Thoroughly enjoyed it, only criticism is the water logging. We played on a clear sunny day but the course was still soaking on the majority of holes from the day before, clearly they have drainage issues but it didn’t distract from a good round. Will be back

Tough course but good for dog walking

Played there for the first time last week. First green was terrible but other greens were in good conditions. Tight course with a bit of difficulty to navigate through if you’ve not played there before. I was taken back when I looked up after putting tee down on hole 3 or 4 to find this massive dog trotting towards me! And that became the theme thereafter. Won’t play there again. Didn’t have much interaction with staff apart from being greeted outdoors to confirm my name and showing me way to first tee. No scorecard was given due to COVID-19.

Major problems with drainage

Course was in poor condition due to the rain. 3 temporary greens were in place. For the price paid should of been better.

Lovely course, Friendly staff.

On arrival at the car park we were greeted by a friendly staff member who explained all we needed to know as first time visitors to the course. Also given the current covid situation we obviously couldn’t use the facilities prior or after our round, so it was straight to tee.

The course itself is neat and narrow so if you’re a high handicapper take a few extra balls with you as there’s plenty areas to lose some, even for strong golfers. Other things of note from our round today was that some of the greens hold a fair amount of standing water if there has been a lot of rain the previous evening or day, so we had issues with putting on a number of them. Other than this it was a thoroughly enjoyable day and we will certainly be back.
