Round with my son

We booked this course as its quite close to where we live thought it was a decent price .there was t anybody on the course so very pracefull but having read previous reviews wasnt expecting much.thought the course wasnt too bad considering the time of year and no winter greens which was good and they were in good condition. Fairways a bit wet but has to be expected this time of year. Would like to play the course in the summer and would return.

AVOID IN WINTER

Firstly the course is a tough little course but I wouldn’t go anywhere near it if it’s rained and the winter tee’s are awful

First time playing and was walking around not knowing where to go.

In a whole it’ll be a good course in the summer but don’t go if it’s rained in anytime the week before your tee off

Cored and Sanded Greens

Course was very damp in parts due to recent weather however more so that expected. Majority of greens were also cored and sanded without any advertisement. Sanding of greens was also very poor with large areas basically unplayable. Won't be playing again

Course in poor condition

A high number of the tee boxes were out of use. About half the greens were covered in sand and all of them were bobbly with holes in them. Fairways were fine but tee boxes and greens were terrible. Hard to take the scorecard seriously because of the greens, some of them were literally covered in sand

Avoid - disgrace

1. I understand it’s winter greens however some yellow tees were among grass ankle height. Impossible to tee off.

2. Heavy sand on greens

3. Some greens totally unplayable

4. The 17/18th hole had 6/7 kids and a father running on the green hitting golf balls in every direction.

Absolute Joke of a golf course. £15 is cheap for golf but too dear for this course.

Avoid

Played this course today in a 4 ball for the first time and even though I shot a credible 79 it wasn't enjoyable.

Poor course lay out with no markers for blind shots or distance markers on fairways. Also, winter greens were a mixed bag and impossible to putt on

Add the above to the fact the course was sodden underfoot to an extent that I drove a ball down the middle of the fairways at 1 hole and it plugged resulting in lost ball!!

Even the locals were slating the place for the state of it.

Tee and green condition very poor on most holes

Most tee's were a mess, would have made sense to move them a few yards forward or back. 2 club lengths back was not far enough. Fairways very marshy considering very little rain recently. Greens bumpy and sandy. Pitch marks not repaired on many greens.

Nice course let down by poor drainage.

First time playing here and it’s a lovely start from the first over the pond. The course is really wet in places and drainage could be improved. Some parts of the course are seriously hilly but made it challenging.

Great morning for golf

Enjoyed the challenge of several holes on this course. I enjoyed the length of this course and the par 3s.

Pace of play was slow for me as behind a three ball and waiting at the same tee from hole 8 all the way round. Golfers need to be encouraged to let players through.

Staff friendly and helpful.

Had the best weather and was a good workout!

Good conditions, poor layout.

Played this for the first time on Sunday, really enjoyed the challenge of every hole (once we found it) There really needs to be better signs to direct you to the next tee once you've putted out. Me and my friend were wandering about on walking trails looking for the next tee. Can't fault the condition of fairways and greens were brilliant. Very challenging course and if you're not hitting straight then it's pretty much a lost ball.

Love the course

It's probably my 4th time playing at Douglaston. I like the course but.... I've notice that people play too fast and that it's probably related with the numerous unrepared marks on the greens. I ofter repair 2 or 3 any time i get on the green. Trash cans should be closed, animals keep eating the garbage and leaving the place a mess. And i find a lot of garbage around the course, but this is not a problem from who manages the course but from society. I've been visiting several places around Scotland and the amount of garbage people leave behind is unbelievably sad.
