The Golf Club at North Hampton
About
The Golf Club at North Hampton offers a traditional Scottish links-style course right in northeast Florida. Designed by Arnold Palmer, the layout meanders through dramatic elevation changes of over 40 feet and ten spring-fed lakes lined with coquina boulders. Sprawled across rolling hills and wild grasses, the golf course is sculpted from beautiful Florida woodlands, offering a round that is as scenic as it is challenging. The Golf Club at North Hampton's hard-to-read greens are massive and move very quickly. There are also tight fairways, many of which feature blind approaches. To make it even trickier, strong winds often sweep through the course, some even reaching a speed of 30 miles an hour.

Superintendent's Revenge
Amazing layout!!
The course was difficult but fair. I expected it to be even more difficult with the Superintendent's Revenge tournament taking place the same day. There were some radical pin placements but it only embellished the challenge.
I wouldn't have changed a thing.
Worth playing
Terrific layout, typical Palmer, very interesting features, this will give you all the challange you want for your game. Current management is doing an outstanding job of making improvements to the course. The grees, bunkers, tees in very good condition.
Great course if you get a deal
The first and only time I played this course was "Superintendent's Revenge Tournament" day. Every pin was tucked into an inaccessible corner of the green that would have challenged pros. Other than the absurd pin placements, this course played pretty tough from the blue tees (~6400 yds) and requires a strong driver and careful shotmaking.
You can definitely tell it's a Palmer design and it's definitely worth a play in Jacksonville if you get a golfnow deal under about $70. Anything over I would say don't go since the course maintenance isn't superb. Greens are maintained well and roll nicely, but the fairways, bunkers and waste areas could use some attention. Teeboxes needed a makeover but were in decent shape.
Certainly an above-average course in the Jax area.
Tough greens.
North Hampton was in better shape than I remembered. While the grass seems to be going dormant, there is still a lot of green. The greens are quick and full of undulations. Pace of play was great, and the deal I got through Golf Now made it especially enjoyable.
challenging but fun - even for a fairly new golfer
Took my son from NC for a birthday treat. He's a much better golfer than I and thought the course was great. I've only been playing for 4 years but still felt great when I was able to make a par!
Great layout
Nice variety of holes and well maintained course. You will be glad you played this Arnold Palmer course.
Great course, super staff
This is a challenging but not unreasonable course. Most of the greens are reachable in regulation for a mere mortal. The greens are well maintained, however pin placement makes you pay dearly for not getting to the center of the cup. There are no gimmick holes, just good gold.
Nice track, good change of pace for florida course
Course in good shape with elevation changes and blind shots. Would be better enjoyed a second round (And worth a re-visit) due to the blind shots where good shots can be penalized. I would welcome the chance to play again.
Very nice layout which challenges all levels
First time playing this course. Staff was nice and friendly.
Nice course. Very pretty. Looks like a links course in many places due to use of grasses, terrain. New owner is clearly investing.
This is the top local choice in "Pay to Play" golf courses open to all.
Fairly challenging
Played on the Friday before FL/GA weekend - pace was surprisingly fast, especially for a 9am tee time.
Course is fine as long as you're in the fairways - large areas of marsh make it challenging, as well as water on at least 9 holes. Greens were in very good shape - very fast. Lots of new sod has been planted.
G.U.R.
new owners are making the course much more player friendly. if you have played there in the past and found it too difficult, you are in for a treat. while still very much a challange, the course has been softened by the removal of some bunkers and pampas grassy areas. no more hit a good shot and not only be penalized, but loose a ball too. when the overhaul is completed, this should be on every golfers top 5 list. only drawback for right now is alot of newly sodded areas. they are all played as GUR. when the sod takes, the course will return to its rightful place near or at the top of my list of favorite courses to play.
Well-designed, with some beautiful holes
Resort-style course layout, moderate difficulty (was even more challenging, but they are streamlining it to make it play a bit less punitive). Usually in excellent condition, undulating but true-rollling greens. Highly enjoyable - recommended!
Excellent course
From a value perspective, North Hampton is the best Northeast Florida course offered on golfnow.com's platform. The course's design is remarkable - I haven't seen anything like it in Florida. Every hole is challenging and unique. It is adequately maintained and the pace of play was excellent on Saturday afternoon (just over 3.5 hours). It's a bit of a trek out to Nassau County, but I can't wait to play it again.
This course is getting a makeover.
Having been away for the Summer, I didn't realize that North Hampton had gone through some changes and upgrades. I am extremely pleased with it. The improvements are player friendly while still keeping the courses' character intact.
Very Challenging Course
Will play again. Manicured. Challenging. Need to play more than once to gain course knowledge. Carts have GPS.
golfcourse need attention
It was good till 9-22 that they made us to go out on 10th tee . On front 9 some bad fair ways , temp.green,...,
Not enough arrow signs from one hole to other...? got lost ,,,,,.
not recommendable..,Till course is fixed!
That was the day i brought 3 friends from over sea.....??
I told them this is a grea tcourse...... Before we play
Challenging but Fair
This is a challenging, but fair course. Not for the beginner, but playable for most golfers depending on the tee box you select. An attractive layout.
Very good
Course had it all. Well maintained, greens ran true and fair
Fun but challenging
I played this course twice while in Jacksonville and loved it both times. The fairways and rough was in great condition. The greens rolled smoothly and were relatively fast compared to other courses that I played in the area. If you are looking for a challenge this is a course to check out. Also, this course puts up an amazing deal on golf now everyday, so keep an eye out.
