6 hour round. Starters were putting out 5somes on a Saturday.. got round to the 4th hole and our cart died. Not worth $60 that's for sure
I keep forgetting to skip this course
Wednesday morning. All the courses near this one are empty. But you have 2 groups waiting to tee off (thanks to reachable par4 to begin) that starts a back up that lasts until 4th hole.
Weekends are worse. 20min late start is always. I said to an old man infront of my group "would you mind picking up the pace, you are a hole behind." His reply was "why do I have to?" Now I know why it's always backed up.
I will never ever play this course again.
noisy
it is the noisiest golf course that i played. other golfers talking si loudly that you can hear their entire conversation from the adjacent hole. shouting from every hole. the loud music from the baseball stadium. i was disappointed that the starter informed me that my son would not be given the junior rate because i booked from golfnow.
Need real senior tees
There are too many par 4s at 400+ yards with only a small differential between the blue, white and silver tees. With a good drive I had too many holes that my second shot left more than my driver just delivered.
Slow slow slow play...
Played on a Friday at 12:30. Course conditions are good. Layout is good. Pace of play was extremely slow. 5 1/2 hour round. Might try this again on an early morning since I like to play at a faster pace.
Very slow
5 groups backed up on hole 3; course did open up a bit after, but still very slow round. Unable to finish with 12:30pm tee time!
Beware "cartpath only"
Played with two other guys and when we got on at 2:00 there was no one in front of us for several holes. We quickly figured out why the course was so empty. They made us ride our carts on the cartpath only because of the recent rain. If the course had narrower fairways then it may have been tolerable. But the fairways are super wide (good thing typically). But hit the ball on the opposite side of the cartpath and you have yourself one healthy workout. The GPS on the cart is rendered useless in this situation, so overall, nice course, but bad experience. We could have easily finished all 18 before sunset, but we could only do 15 because of all the walking we had to do. It would have probably been easier to walk the course with a bag cart. If it has recently rained, call the course to see if you can actually ride the cart over the course...
Late and slow
1230 tee time but didn't get off til 115pm. Front nine took 2 hr 40 min. Finally it loosened up. We got in 15 holes. I guess that's not too bad after a slow start.
Slow Play
Every time you play this course by the third hole there is a three or four foursomes waiting. Front nine took over three hours to play. Also your 1:00 pm tee time starts at 1:20pm. They always over book the course. After first four holes the course its an extremely nice course but the wait time makes it not a fun course to play.
Fivesomes All Around
Course was in good condition, but there needed to be a Marshall out on the course looking after the pace of play. The fivesome two groups in front of us was almost two holes behind and turned what should have. Even a reasonable four and a half hour round into a dragged out five hours and fifteen minutes.
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
The Good
I love the layout. Short par 4's. Long par 4's. Short par 5's. Normal par 5's. Great little par 3's! A little something for everyone, and very forgiving off the tee.
Course conditions in the fairways and rough is always good. The rough is thick, but not penal.
The Bad
It seems they are always doing some form of maintenance on the course. Greens are never really all that good. Man, if the greens were good, this course would be amazing!
The driving range leaves a lot to be desired, but at least today they had enough buckets!
The Ugly
Pace of Play. SOOOOOO slow. Today's round took 5:17. When I paid today, I saw a sign to make sure I carried my receipt with me at all times because they would have a marshall driving around to see when you started in order to make sure pace of play was what it should be. Never saw a marshall, and the pace was horrible.
A simple solution? Change tee times from every 7 minutes to every 9, and while you may lose a few bucks in the short term, you'll gain a lot more in the long term, because I won't go back, and I am sure many others feel the same way.
This course could be great. I hope one day it is.
Long Beach Rec
The course was in fair condition. They had aerated the greens and they were a bit bumpy. Even with that said, scoring was good.
What Happened?
I should start saying that I play this course weekly, For some reason this weekend they overloaded it to the point of unplayable. 1.37pm tee time and got to 10th tee with 2 full groups on at 5.05 pm, Probably would have hit tee shots around 5.20pm.
I dont mind a 5some, I can stomach the odd slow player even but what I find to be a total disservice is to knowingly overload a course and not then marshall it at all to try and move groups along, space things in a way that it can work. Weekend rounds of 5hrs are the norm but to not have a single marshall out there trying to make this doable in under 6.5-7hrs was a Joke. Very Disappointed. The excuse of staff that it was a busy weekend was unacceptable. If this is to be the new norm Ill be giving this a miss
Poor fairways and sandy greens
Terrible fairways that were rock hard in 40% and greens had a ton of sand on them.
