Recreation Park 18 Golf Course

Played the first two holes in the dark with lights, but the rest was great. 3.5 hours. wonderful.

Tee off in the dark and was awesome first group out finished 18 holes in 3 hours well worth the money to save the time !!!

Fairways were brown and worn but playable. Green very hard and fast. Punching greens not much of help since it was done November. more work has to be done to soften greens.

Tee’d up at 630am. Weather was perfect all Thanksgiving weekend. Tee time was right on time, pace of play was 3:45. Pretty awesome for a muni course. Course was in ok to good shape, greens rolled fast & true. A couple birdies on the day. Bartender was very nice, killer breakfast burrito. Had a great day overall. Topped it off at Joe Josts for lunch. I’ll be back soon.

I was quite displeased with the fact that they charged $55 for a midweek round without the greens being in tip top shape. The greens were probably aerated a week ago and the greens did not roll well. The pace of play was a bit slow also.

Greens didn't hold approaches too well but we're fine otherwise. Tee boxes and fairways just ok

Fun course, quite a few short par fours to try and birdie

Advertising lesser fees between 6:00 & 7:00 AM and not perviding good lighting is missing. Had to play in almost complete darkness with poor lighting on the first 3 holes.

Pace of place was at 9 hours!!! 5 groups on the third tee. All they care about is selling tee times!! No marshall. Demanded full refund and walked off!!!!

Recreation Park 18

Recreation Park 18 isn’t a layout that scares the golfer, there are no water or wasteland carries, there is very little out of bounds, unless you hit it over the fence to the highways that boarder the course. Rather the course is comprised of long holes featuring wide fairways bordered by mature trees, moderate rough, fairway and greenside bunkers. Many holes feature elevation changes and doglegs, but nothing hidden. The course is fun, fair, affordable, and friendly.

Played Tuesday with my best friend on a Golf Now Hot Deal. Two players with cart for $66 1:22pm tee time. The course was virtually empty and we were able to get out more than 45 minutes early. The round took just over 3:15 minutes.

The starter was friendly and got us out early. The temperature was a very pleasant 84 degrees at 12:40 when we tee’d off light 5 knot wind providing comfort and some challenges. We were chasing a single that was playing behind a twosome. We wouldn’t have anyone behind us until after the turn.

Carts feature GPS, and provided very good yardages from most locations.

Tee boxes were lush with some divot damage, minor soft and unleveled areas. Overall footing was good, and a number of tee’s had divot mix boxes available. We played the whites. Most tee locations were honest and did not set the golfer up for a bad angle or make use of visual tricks.

The fairways have a mix of grasses, color of turf, but all areas I was in were in very good condition with lush coverage. The recent dry conditions provided for some truly remarkable rollout on downhill drives. I did not have a bad fairway lie the entire round.

Bunkers – both the fairway and greenside bunkers are in excellent condition with clean soft layer of mature sand.

Rough – Fairway rough was a mix of length almost as if it had not been mown in the last week. This presented some significant issues, as much of the rough is found under the mature trees, with a mix of pine needles to add to the complexity of the shot and stance. The fairway rough ranged from spidery weed at two inches to tall grass of five to six inches. Rough around the greens were immaculately groomed, with the second cut less than two inches to three inches.

Greens were fast to medium fast, with excellent coverage, with an unfortunate number of unrepaired pitch marks, and damage from prior pitch mark repair. On this day there was an overabundance of forward pin placements three to six paces on.

The barbeque was going at the turn for a good hot dog or burger just feet from the tee box. The course features a more than adequate number of relief stations. Each hole had working ball washers, and trash cans. During the round we say an ambassador observing play on almost every hole. We wouldn’t run into traffic until the fourteenth hole where we joined the single that had joined with another single after the twosome between them dropped out. Couldn’t have been much better.

This is my second time playing “Big Rec” and as with the first time I found it completely enjoyable, in better condition than my last round, and well worth the price.

Could not T off until hour after T time because the course ran out of golf carts. Pace off for lay was terrible and starter was one of the worst I have ever experienced.

My group had a great time playing at their facility at the course is in really good shape for a muni track the amenities forget the staff was excellent and my grouping had a great pace of play in an enjoyable time in Granger in great shape

My wife and I play big rec. once a month. and have never had a problem, but Saturday was a different story. the staff appeared to be hungover. They were rued from tee off. We went through 4 golf carts. nothing was charged. after walking two holes, when they finally brought us a cart ( which died 2 holes later) they rudely asked us why we left our cart on the 6 fairway. coming in there were 2 more dead cart on 16 & 18 and a guy coming off nine needed a cart. when we complained the staff totally blew us off

6:07 tee time and almost 5 hour round. Seen the ambassador having a laugh with the group in front of us that happened to be more than 2 holes behind.

Wide open but fun course for a round of golf, GolfNiw price fairly steep for the course but I needed an early time

Played here 8/3/17 Thursday afternoon and the greens were uncut, bumpy and slow. Usually the greens here are good, so they must have hired a new greenskeeper who has no idea what he is doing. Find a new greenskeeper if you want people to come back.
