Nice layout
Nice. Course layout plays for intermediate or low handicap players also good practice facility
It was fun
The weather was poor but pace was great.
21 Years Later, SAME ISSUES
I haven't played this course since I was a senior in high school, and I must say that some things never change. People NEVER repair ball marks, NEVER rake traps, and all play at PGA pro speed on their way to a 5:20 round of golf. Course condition is OK at best, greens were PUNCHED on at least 25% of the surface (thanks for telling us, oh wait, they didn't... even in the pro shop), there was no marshall, and the 3somes ahead of us took almost 5 and a half hours to play in carts.
Looks like it will be a LONG time before I come back again. American Golf hasn't learned that you need to step up and marshal the course properly or even small groups (2 and 3-somes) will take over five hours to finish and I will not be back.
Average muni golf
New to CA so I'm not as used to the slow pace of play. Short golf course but enjoyable. The greens were in good shape for as much play as it gets.
They put out 5 balls as standard!
Booked tee time or 09:52, didn't tee off until 10:30, took an hour to play 3 holes. Course is decent but they need to get their act together on how many people they allow on the course, they were putting out 5 balls! I've never seen anything like it.
Rec Park 18 is very nice
This course is semi long but not really. The fairways are generous off the tee and the greens were smooth. You could virtually bang the ball as hard as you wanted and it would find the fairway. The course is straight forward with no major tricks. Only drawback was that the fairways were patchy and had many dirt bone spaces. Overall a nice walk in the park not spoiled.
Need to improve overall management
Disappointed a lot.. Need to wait till carts are ready at start, each team has 5 persons who need more carts and more time to play so it took almost 3 hours to finish only 9 holes and had to leave course at around 7
: 00 because of darkness.. My tee time was 2:07 and for 5 hours I could do only 16 holes.... I don't want to go there again unless remedy action would be taken.
Suggestion : put some restriction on 5 sum play which needs 50% more cart usage. (4 persons need 2 carts, 5 need 3 carts)
Better in a couple months
They over water the course at night, I understand it's blistering hot right now, but the greens (early am) are so soaked that the speed of the greens were so inconsistent. Also so many parts of the course are muddy even fairway lies can be challenging. They are working on 3 tee boxes so the temporary ones are terrible right now. In a couple of weeks/months it should be better.
Pace of play can be challenging because of the long par 4s but overall it's an OK course.
Over all great deal and the course is in great shape
I wish all golf now that they would put that they are having a lb qualifier and that play would be slow
Perfect Day at Big Rec
Greens were in great shape. The course was fun. I'll be back soon.
Wide fairways = best round to date
Played right after a tournament ended so course was wide open on back nine start. Golfnow discount was $21 with cart! Half of greens sanded but flag on other half so not a problem. All fairways are wide so pksbty of room. No water so didn't lose a ball all round. Friendly staff let us start on back nine to get away from cigar smoking golfers starting on one. Very accommodating. Best practice facilities with full sand trap and chilling onto real green. Worth visiting just for free practice. Played 4 hours 10 minutes and could have been faster easily.
Make sure everyone in your group shows up
made a tee time for a 4 some and had 2 guys cancel last minute. So since they didnt show i got charged for the 2 not showing up even though we played our tee time. So we ended up paying almost 200 bucks for 2 people to play. Half the greens were half diseased. Best part was everyone played a good pace. Def won't play here again.
Good day at Big Rec
Course is in good shape greens are fast and hard. This course kicked my butt today.
Didn't even tee off on the 13th
The pace of play at this course is the absolute worst. Teed off at 2:00pm on a twilight rate, walked off at 7:00pm and we hadn't even gotten to play the 13th. Every tee time is booked as a fivesome. My tee time was for me and a buddy. They then paired us up with three singles and we had to follow three other fivesomes.
Lastly, they didn't even have enough carts for all the golfers booked. We had to wait beyond our tee off time to wait for someone to come off the course so we could use their cart. Definitely play somewhere else that actually cares about a reasonable pace of play.
Rec 18
Great course very challenging lots of slopes and some elevations to throw off your game,I highly recommend this course we will be back for more
Good muni course
Played in 4 and 1/2 hours at 10:30 on a Wednesday. Pretty fast for a muni.
Good course too many players
I love the course. I had a 12:07 starting time didn't get off till 12:40. Played 14 holes till sun went down. Hope to go back and play the whole course.
TEE Time
Made a Tee time on line with Golfnow and the golf course never had the reservation on record. What a inconvenience. I had a foursome ready too play !
